Day 2 in Texas sees more exciting action from teams

The fifth event of the 2021-22 NAPHL season continued on Saturday in Frisco, Texas with 18U, Prep, 16U and 14U teams taking to the ice as the Showcase League was on full display.

Day 2 featured another round of high-scoring games as teams continue to jockey for position in the standings. 

This weekend's event, which is part of the 2021-22 regular season, will feature 128 teams and feature action in the T1ER League Western Conference at the 18U, 16U, 15U, and 14U levels in addition to SHOWCASE League action in the 18U, 16U, and 14U age groups. It will also be the first regular season event of the 2021-22 season for the PREP League.

The event runs from November 12-15 and will be based in Frisco, Texas and be played at six different Children’s StarCenter’s throughout the area including: Frisco, Farmers Branch, McKinney, Plano, Richardson, and Valley Ranch. In addition, the NYTEX Sports Centre, which is home to the Lone Star and Texas Brahmas of the NAHL and NA3HL, will also host NAPHL games throughout the weekend.

Day 2 Highlights

14U Division: Naperville won their lone game 9-0 Logan Huegel had five points. Madison also won big on Saturday as Grant Whaley had two goals and an assist in a 7-2 win. The Arizona Bobcats T1ER team got a goal and assist from Tygar Lister and Mason Knaffla in a 3-1 win over the Northwest Stars. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights got 16 saves from Kameron Laskaska in a 2-1 win over Ontario. The Highland Park Falcons got two goals from Luke Choi and Dillon Himan in a 7-1 win. West Dundee got a hat-trick from Henry Lange in a 5-2 win over the Bruins. Keegan Bovee had a hat-trick and an assist in a win over Montana. Jackson Steinlauf had a hat-trick for the Chicago Jets in their 7-2 win over Columbus. Fred Battaglia had four goals and an assist as the Chicago Hawks picked up a win over El Paso. The Gurnee Vipers got the game-winning goal from Austin Garcia in a 3-1 win over Atlanta. The St. Louis Sting got 24 saves from John Mohrmann in a 6-1 win over Portland. Kade Sorenson had a goal and an assist to lead the Littleton Hawks to a 3-1 win over the PHA Icemen. Jack Drozdek scored 3:14 into overtime to give Orland Park a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Eagles.

16U Division: Anaheim got 18 saves from Olivier Caballero in a 3-1 win over Affton. Clearwater Ice Storm White got two goals from Sean Murphy in a 5-4 win over Highland Park. The Colorado Springs Tigers picked up two shutout wins on Saturday as Max Horvath made 52 saves in the opener. The Northwest Chargers got a shootout goal from Kevin Kilanski in a 3-2 win over Gulf Coast. The Texas Tigers got 30 saves from Tyler White in a 4-1 win over West Dundee. The Leafs 15U team beat Orland Park 15U 4-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Jacob Runge. Montana picked up a pair of wins as Trayden Riley had five points on the day. The Chicago Jets 16U got two goals from William Leshnock in a 5-2 win over Clearwater Blue. The Park City Ice Miners got three points from Braden Murphy in a 5-3 win over the Chicago Blues 15U. Gavin Mears had the OT-winner as Ontario beat Madison. Aiden Finch had five points as Vegas beat Northwest, 6-3. The Chicago Hawks got two goals from Brian Manns in a win over Arizona Bobcats AA. Colby Zemanek had a 13-save shutout as Gurnee 16U beat Monument, 5-0. Gurnee 15U also won as they beat the Chicago Bruins 15U 8-4 behind two goals from Davis Schlagenhaft. Atlanta got 39 saves from Nikoli Dunne in a 3-1 win over the Jets 15U. Behind two points from Alex Bouck, Littleton beat Arizona Hockey Union, 4-2. Orland Park got two goals from Connor Begley in a win over Ontario 15U. Kyle Hogan made 35 saves to lead the Chicago Bruins to a 2-1 win over Mission Arizona. Affton 15U posted a big win over El Paso thanks to four points from Blake Houston. Owen Huisman had 24 saves for New Mexico in a 1-0 shutout win over the Chicago Hawks 15U. The Naperville Sabres 15U and 16U teams had wins in the afternoon as Owen Miller and Evan McDonald led the way. Ryan Obert made 24 saves to help the St. Louis Sting shutout the Columbus Thunderbirds, 4-0. Highland Park 16U goalie Kieron Wise had 29 saves in a 2-0 shutout of Colorado Springs 15U. Jacob Smith had the game-winning goal in a 5-4 win for the Chicago Bulldogs 15U over Littleton 15U. The Dallas Penguins went 1-1 on Saturday with a 5-2 win and 5-2 loss as Brian Tseng had two goals. Tahoe Prep also went 1-1 as Carver Alford had two points in the win. The Arizona Bobcats 16U team went 1-1 as Jake Filion had 45 saves in their win.

18U/Prep Division: It was full day of action in the 18U and Prep Divisions. The Philadelphia Little Flyers went 1-1 as they got a 13- save shutout from Brandon Novabilski in a 4-0 win over the Sting. The Sting also went 1-1 as they beat Arizona Hockey Union 4-2 as Samuel Beumer had two goals. Affton had a pair of wins, which included a hat-trick from Connor Westrbrook. The Gurnee Vipers went 1-1 as they got a 20-save shutout from Chuck Berthiaume in an 8-0 win over New Mexico. Orland Park allowed just two goals in their two wins as Michael Hurley had four point on the day. Arizona Hockey Union went 1-1, which included a 5-4 overtime win over the Chicago Bruins as Alexander Walsh had two goals, including the OT-winner. The Texas Tiger won their lone game 8-4 as Noble Cook and Adam Goldstein each had two goals. The Littleton Hawks exploded for 15 goals in two wins as Kyle Fredrick had four points. The Chesterfield Falcons also won twice as Isaac Cooper led the way with four goals. The Highland Park Falcons won their lone game of the day as Grant Webster and Gianni Lucchesi each had two point. The West Dundee Leafs had a 9-1 win in their lone game of the day as Dylan Posch made 33 saves in the win. Naperville beat Mission Arizona 6-3 as Nicholas Delaney had three points in the win as did Tyler Perkins. The Chicago Jets shutout Clearwater 3-0 as Patrick Hutton stopped all 21 shots in the win. The Chicago Hawks picked up 3 of a possible 4 points, which included a 7-2 win over Monument. Jack Selby had three points in the two games. The Madison Capitols got four goals from Inde Abresch in a 5-3 win over West Coast. Tahoe Prep got goals from seven different players in a 7-5 win over Portland. The Northwest Stars picked up a 5-1 win over Shattuck-St. Mary’s as Gabe Poyer had 29 saves in the win. Behind 18 saves from Max Geddes, the Arizona Bobcats shutout Team Alaska 5-0. Denver East got two goals from Zeke Giles in a 4-3 win over Pacific Ridge. The Colorado Springs Tigers got two goals from Ryan King in a 5-1 win over Ontario. Drew Dearborn had three points to lead St. Mary’s to a 5-1 win over Ft. Collins. Regis exploded for 10 goals in a 10-3 win over Stockton as Michael Manville and Caden Balabat each scored twice. Cherry Creek went 1-1 on Saturday, which included a shootout win over the Chicago Hawks as Ben Powell had four points. The Chicago Bruins took three of four points including a 4-1 win over Ogden as Payton Aldridge made 46 saves.
