The Texas Tornado of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that 18U forward Chris Beck has signed an NAHL tender with the Port Huron Fighting Falcons. Port Huron competes in the NAHL’s North Division.
The 17-year-old from Allen ,Texas, led the Tornado 18U team in scoring during the 2012-13 NAPHL regular season with 29 points (9 goals, 20 assists) in 22 games played. His 20 assists ranked tied for 5th of all NAPHL 18U players and his 29 points ranked 6th among all scorers.
Beck (5’10/165) is the second Tornado 18U player this season to sign an NAHL tender. Earlier in the season, teammate Austin Murray signed with the Odessa Jackalopes.
Beck and the 18U Tornado got into the top 8 of the NAPHL 18U playoffs on the final day of the regular season with a 3-1 win over Omaha, in which Beck had a goal and an assist. Beck began the season with a bang as he recorded four straight two-point games. He also recorded a six point game back on December 29th in a 6-2 win over Deroit.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2013.
