Alumni Featured on UNLV’s National Championship Squad

March 19, 2025

The UNLV Rebels claimed their first ACHA M1 National Championship, with a roster full of NAHL, NA3HL, and NAPHL alumni. UNLV entered the tournament with a 27-5-2 regular season record.

On Monday night, the Rebels faced Liberty University in the semifinals. Producing a come from behind 5-2 win, the Rebels tallied all five of their goals in the third period, with four of those five goals coming from NAHL and NAPHL alumni. The win set them up to face Adrian College in the championship game.

Once again the leagues’ alumni were key in the Rebels’ 7-3 victory. Former NAHL and NA3HL skater, Tristan Rand, tallied two goals for the Rebels, while former NAPHL skater, Heath Mensch, orchestrated two goals and an assist. The UNLV squad features six NA3HL alumni and 12 NAPHL alumni.

The ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) is a nationwide organization providing opportunities for athletes to continue their hockey career, and goals of winning a championship, all while earning an education. The NAHL family of leagues have always served as unique and proven pathways for players to both advance in athletics and academics.
