18U:

In the Gold Division, Golden State Elite started the Round Robin portion of the event on a high note with a win over the Midwest Blackbirds, taking down their opponents by a score of 4-2. As the second overall leading scorer in the 18U age bracket, ‘07 forward Ben Dickson was lights out, scoring a pair of goals to propel his team to victory. The Monterey, CA native native opened up scoring for his team, tying the game at 1-1 at the 3:58 mark of the second period. As the clock wound down, he would go on to tally the final goal of the contest with under two minutes remaining in regulation.

In the Silver Division, Denver East improved to 8-1 on the year after defeating the St. Louis Sting 4-1. The first two periods were rather quiet as each team tallied one goal a piece with things tied up at one heading into the final frame. Denver’s offense got the ball rolling in the third as they scored three unanswered goals. Peter Krug, the second overall leading scorer for his team lead the way in terms of production, scored a pair of goals himself, including one on the man advantage. This was Krug’s second multi-goal showing and is over a point per game player with 12 points in 9 games.

16U:

In the Gold Division, the California Wave took a demanding 7-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Crunch. The Wave came out the gates hot, scoring a whopping four goals in the first period, Joseph Izadi tallying a pair of goals himself. Meanwhile the Crunch found the back of the net at the 3:28 mark in the middle frame, breaking up scoring for the first goal of the period. The Wave wasted no time responding as they went on to score the next three goals. Despite scoring a trio of goals themselves to close out the game, the Crunch fell short but still put up a great fight to make things interesting.

In the Silver Division, Team Wyoming and the Texas Heat had an intense battle as the squad from Wyoming came out on top, the final score being 3-2. The game was a back and forth contest as both teams were able to get on the board in the first period, including Wyoming’s blueliner Kash Percifield who recorded his first goal of the season. Benjamin Khalil extended the Heat’s lead to 2-1 at the 4:06 mark in the second but Wyoming would respond in the second half of the period to tie things up. The hero for Wyoming would be Grady Perry who banked home the game winner, his seventh goal of the season.

14U:

The Texas Jr. Brahmas and San Diego Jr. Gulls kicked off the event with a thrilling overtime contest. Fans were cheering as teams took turns scoring, making for an intense battle. Texas took an early lead, less than two minutes into the game. The remainder of the period was quiet but the Gulls scored at the 0:16 mark into the second, the Brahmas responding in the middle of the second, ending the period up 2-1. San Diego started the final frame on a high note scoring the first two goals, taking the lead before Brahmas’ defenseman Samuel Goodson notched his second point of the game to send things to overtime. Jake Bantle would go on to be the OT hero, propelling his team to victory.
