NAPHL SHOW Recap: 10/12

October 13, 2024

Day two of the SHOW event has concluded with plenty of action at the 18u and 16 levels. Below we will dive into a few matchups and highlight a handful of teams. To check out the full day of scores be sure to click here!

18U:

As one of the top 15 18U programs at the AA level, the Lake County Vipers have not taken their foot off the brake, maintaining a perfect 3-0-0-0 record through the second day of the SHOW event. This afternoon, the squad from Illinois picked up a 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Lakers, a contest in which they were down 1-0 heading into the second period. After the first twenty minutes of play, the Vipers put things into overdrive scoring three unanswered goals to remain in the win column. ‘07 forward Will Grinton would be the star of the show scoring the game winning goal in addition to notching one assist.

Similar to the Vipes, the Orland Park Vikings are a top 25 AA program at the AA level and have remained undefeated with three games played thus far here in Blaine. When looking at the statistics for the Vikings, depth scoring appears to be their strength as seven players have been able to register at least three points or more on the weekend. During today’s 4-0 victory over the Texas Tigers, it was Andrew Speh who played a key role offensively, scoring two of the four goals for his team.

16U:

With a 2-0-1-0 record, the Chicago Jets are proving themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the 16U division. The fans on rink one were given a show as the Jets came out victorious during a 4 round shootout over the California Wave. During regulation, the contest went back and forth with both teams scoring one goal a piece during the first and second periods. With no one being able to find the back of the net in overtime, the teams headed to a shootout and it was David Pyzowski and Lucca Ortega who were able to beat the Wave netminder one on one.

Despite falling short during their first game of the event on Friday, the Jacksonville Jr. Icemen have regrouped, winning their second game yesterday and their sole contest today. The squad from Florida had quite the performance today with a dominating 9-1 win over the Ontario Jr. Reign. ‘09 forward Nathan Jagodzinski was the clear star of the show as he was able to net a whopping five goals and tally one assist in just one game. With six points on the day, Jagodzinski is the second overall leading scorer in the 16U age bracket with eight points in three games.
