NAPHL FALL League Recap: 9/28
We are on our second to last day here in Blaine for the second FALL League event.
16U:
The Kenai River Brown Bears shut out the Austin Bruins with a final score of 3-0. Hunter Sidorowicz was the star of the show in between the pipes making all 41 saves. The Brown Bears had three different players find the back of the net, including John Westby, Cash Lynch and Brodie Cox with two of their goals being scored in the first period.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Mallards defeated the Fairbanks Ice Dogs after a fierce back and forth battle. Three goals were scored in the first period, two of which came off the sticks of Minnesota’s Henry Robinson and Roman Wright. Fairbanks would battle posting two goals of their own but would come up just short after the Mallards Jaxson Horning would score the game winner with under 6 minutes remaining in the game.
18U:
The New Hampshire Mountain Kings pulled off an upset over the Minnesota Wilderness, winning the game during a 7-6 shootout. After struggling through the first portion of the season, this shootout victory was huge for New Hampshire. During regulation, five different players would score for the Mountain Kings, an impressive three goals coming during the first 20 minutes. After a scoreless overtime, New Hampshire’s Trey Janssen and Lane Powers would score in the shootout to bring home the victory.
The Janesville Jets improved to 5-3-0-0 on the year with a close 4-3 victory over the St.Cloud Norsemen. Four goals were scored during the first 20 minutes, three goals coming from the Jets, while two came from the Norsemen. After a scoreless second period, both teams would score in the final frame but it would be Blake Prouty who would seal the deal for Janesville.
