NAPHL FALL League Day 3 Recap

September 16, 2024

The first NAPHL FALL League event of the year has officially come to a close. We saw many fast-tempoed games, talented players and overall, great competition across the 16U and 18U levels. The third and final day was nothing short of exciting as participants and coaches are already looking forward to the second event.

16U:

The first game of the day may have arguably been the most exciting as the Janesville Jets defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears by a final score of 4-3. The Jets were able to net the first three goals of the game before the Brown Bears responded with two goals of their own. Janesville and Kenai would both go on to score one goal a piece in the third period and all three goaltenders from both organizations were tested throughout the entire duration of the game. Sam Haas of the Jets turned away 35 of 38 shots while Kenai’s Hunter Sidorowicz and William Pocrnich combined for 29 saves.

The theme of the unstoppable Mountain Kings continued as they too had an exciting game against the Minnesota Mallards. Both teams entered the contest undefeated but New Hampshire ultimately came out on top with a final score of 4-3 after a hattrick from standout Nash Paine. The Mountain Kings will head into the next event at the top of the standings with 12 points (a 4-0-0-0 record) and will be the team to beat at the 16U level.

18U:

The Austin Bruins, Odessa Jackalopes and Minnesota Mallards all sit just within two points of one another in the standings as the Bruins and Jackalopes have both maintained a 4-0-0-0 record while the Mallards posted a 3-0-1-0 record throughout this event.

All three organizations had demeaning wins over their opponents as the Bruins took a 6-2 victory over the North Iowa Bulls, the Jackalopes took down the St.Cloud Norsemen 4-1 and the Mallards defeated the New Hampshire Mountain Kings 8-0.

When looking at player statistics, both the Jackalopes goaltender in Mason Kelm and the Mallards goaltender in Elias Tomaska have maintained an impressive goals against average of under one with Kelm leading the standings with a .531 and Tomaska right behind with a .751. With only one goal against for each netminder, these two have played a huge factor in the success of their organizations.

We look forward to seeing everyone back in Blaine for the second FALL League event in just a few weeks.
