NAPHL FALL League Day 1 Recap
The first NAPHL FALL League event is underway in Blaine, Minnesota with action taking place at the 16U and 18U levels. With day one filled with tons of action, the FALL League continues to be a valuable area of recruitment for NAHL member teams.
U16:
With six, one-goal games , the competition was fierce in the 16U age bracket, including two games ending in a shootout. The New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings shined during their first game, running away with a 7-1 win over the Minnesota Moose Prospects, resulting in three of their players recording three points a piece. One of those players, Nash Paine, scored a hattrick, the only hat trick thus far.
Looking at a few of our nail biters, Odessa Jackalopes netminders Seth Watkins and Tyler Priest combined for 31 saves on the day for a 1-0 shutout over the Minnesota Wilderness. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs took a 4-3 victory over the Janesville Jets with six players scoring during the deciding shootout. Rounding things out, the Minnesota Mallards pulled out a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Green Prospects with goals coming from Henry Robinson and Jace Erb.
U18:
Similar to the 16U age group, there were a large handful of one-goal games at the 18U level. Three players on three different teams were able to net a hattrick, with Marshall Haukom of the Minnesota Mallards and Ty Laabs of the Odessa Jackalopes propelling their respective teams to victory. Despite falling to the St.Cloud Norsemen, Isaiah Hildenbrand scored three of the four goals for the Minnesota Wilderness during their early morning overtime matinee.
Other players to watch as we head into day two include Calvin Lakowske of the Odessa Jackalopes, Jackson George of the Austin Bruins and Joshua Graves of the Wisconsin Windigo, all of whom tallied four points to kick off the FALL League season.
Games will begin tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM back at the Super Rink and we’re looking forward to seeing what day two has in store!
