16, 14U teams highlight action on Day 1 in New Hampshire

The NAPHL’s SHOW League kicked off its 2023-24 season on Friday in New Hampshire as the SHOW 16 and 14U teams highlighted the action on Day 1 with a full slate of games.

The SHOW is a collection of Tier I and Tier II organizations from all over North America that compete at the Tier I level at NAPHL events. It also includes teams from some of the strongest Tier II leagues in the United States. This event includes all 18U, 16U and 14U teams in the first match-ups of the season.

Since the inception of the SHOW League there have been an increased number of opportunities for players at the NAHL, NA3HL, and T1ER Leagues. The internal exposure elements inclusive of an exclusive tendering system and the strategically schedule events have proven to be very beneficial to the players competing in the SHOW League.

Day 1 recaps

14U SHOW: The North Carolina Golden Bears kicked off the event with a 6-0 shutout win over the Ontario Jr. Reign. James Bradshaw had two goals and an assist and Daniel Rinaldo stopped all 32 shots that came his way in the shutout win. The next contest saw the Santa Clarita Flyers blank the Orland Park Vikings, 5-0. Luca Lira and Sebastian Wright each had two goals and Mason Kring made 27 saves in the shutout win. Top Gun T1 defeated the New Hampshire Avalanche, 6-3. Preston Sullivan scored twice in the win and Gavin Maher picked up the win in goal. In the final morning game, the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights got goals from Gavin Perkins, Davis Lenz, and Ryan Fitzmeyer in a 3-1 win over the Park City Ice Miners. In the evening games, Santa Clarita picked up their second win of the day thanks to a 9-3 win over Top Gun T1. Logan Garcia and Radek Tervo had two goals apiece in the win. Thanks to 23 saves rom Gehrig Lucas and a late 3rd period goal from Chase Riechers, the Orland Park Vikings picked up their first win of the day in a 3-2 win over the New Hampshire Avalanche. Richard Whitehead had two goals, including the overtime-winner and Filip Duba also scored twice as the Ontario Jr. Reign beat the Park City Ice Miners in a 5-4 overtime thriller. Beau Blakley had a hat-trick in the loss for Park City. In the final game of the day, the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights won their second game of the day as five different players (Ryan Fitzmeyer, Ryan Faivre, Jason Pirri, and Taanissh Devarasetty, Davis Lenz) scored in a 5-2 win over the North Carolina Golden Bears.

16U SHOW: The SISU Thunderbirds defeated the Tampa Bay Crunch in a high scoring game, 7-5. Maxwell Garrett came to play as he totalled 5 points with 4 goals and 1 assist. Goaltender Kolter LeRoy turned away 33 of the 38 shots he faced. The New Hampshire Monarchs topped the Utah Jr. Mustangs (Red) by a final of 5-1. Walter King and Brett Aceto both had a three point game while goaltender Ben Fleming stopped 34 shots. The North Carolina Golden Bears edged a 3-2 win over the Seacoast Prep Academy. Cameron McClain netted two goals and goaltender Matthew Burrell took the win in net. The California Wave took a 3-2 win over the Midwest Blackbirds. Anthony Trutanich netted a goal and goaltender Jory Knox got the win in net. Taho Prep Academy won in overtime against the Utah Jr. Mustangs (Blue), 5-4. Caleb Anson scored the game winning goal and Jordan Janeway scored two goals. Goaltender Logan Meszaros turned away an outstanding 49 shots. The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Rose City Pats in a 3-2 game. Kruz Barnes scored twice and goalie Noah Porter stopped 23 shots. The New Hampshire Mountain Kings took down the Orland Park Vikings by a score of 5-3. Max Brocklehurst had a 4 point game with 3 goals and 1 assist. Goalie Aidan FInn backstopped 31 of 34 shots in the win. The Tampa Crunch won 5-3 against the Las Vegas Jr Golden Knights. Collin Friedrich posted a 4 point game and goalie Tristan Hilliard took the win in net. The St. Louis Sting blanked the Ontario Jr Reign by a final score of 5-0. Benjamin Pfleging scored 4 goals and netminder Gavin Arnold posted a shutout win. The Santa Clara Blackhawks shutout the Park City Ice Miners, 6-0. Benjamin Hulten scored twice and dished out two assists while goalie Kenji Pane stopped all 32 shots in the contest. The SISU Thunderbirds rallied in the third period scoring two goals to win 3-2 against the Uthan Jr. Mustangs (Red). Garrett Vipperman had a two point game and goalie Mason Brehm stopped 19 shots. The Tampa Bay Crunch won 7-1 against the New Hampshire Monarchs. Layne Gonzalez had a 3 point game and Drake Munroe scored 2 goals. Goaltender Sebastian Alfonso got the win in net. The Midwest Blackbirds topped the North Carolina Golden Bears by a score of 8-5. Luke Hayden scored a hat-trick and added two assists. Goalie Camden Schuman stopped 20 of the 25 shots he faced. The California Wave shutout the Utah Jr. Mustangs (Blue) 2-0. Jeremy Nash netted both goals and goaltender Jory Knox stopped all 21 shots. Tahoe Prep Academy added two goals in the third to solidify a 4-1 against the Portland Winterhawks. Dustin Geroge had a three point game with two goals and an assist. Tahoe netminder Finn Wheland stopped 49 shots. The Seacoast Prep Academy took down the Rose City Pats in a 7-2 game. Cameron Wooles scored two goals and goaltender Dilon Hernandez got the win in net. The New Hampshire Mountain Kings added four goals in the third period to get a 7-1 win over the Las Vegas Jr Golden Knights. Max Brocklehurst had a five point game and netminder Max Guerra stopped 27 shots in the win. The Santa Clara Blackhawks shutout the St. Louis Sting by a score of 3-0. Dominic Powell scored two goals and goaltender Atom Egan earned the shutout win. The Park City Miners added a third period goal to get a 4-3 win over the Ontario Jr Reign. Mitchell Berry netted two goals and goalie Alex Harhi picked up the win in net. The Orland Park Vikings won in a shootout against the Tampa Bay Crunch, 2-1. Logan Skocaj scored the regulation goal and netminder Nolan Sanderson stopped 10 shots.

18U SHOW: The Orland Park Vikings blanked the Pilot Mound Academy Buffaloes by a score of 5-0. Vincenzo Cavazo had a three point game and goalie Logan Bruns posted a 19 shot shutout win. Cherry Creek High School shutout Tahoe Prep in a 4-0 game. Dominic Suchkov scored a hat-trick and Mason Banks stopped all 19 shots he faced.
