Full day of hockey in Michigan as SHOW joins the action

January 15, 2023

The NAPHL event in Michigan continued on Saturday with the T1ER 18U and 16U teams competing in the second day of their final regular season event of the 2022-23 season. The T1ER games will be played at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, MI and the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI. The T1ER event runs from January 13-16.

On Saturday, the SHOW National Division 18U and 16U teams, along with the SHOW 14U Division got underway with some competitve games at the Buffalo Wild Wings Arena in Troy, MI and Suburban Ice in Rochester, MI. The SHOW event runs from January 14-16.

Day 2 recaps

16U T1ER: The Madison Capitols defeated the New Jersey Jr. Titans in a high over-time scoring game, 8-7. Myles Gilbertson recorded 6 points with 4 goals and 3 assists. Goaltender Alex Scandrol stopped 27 of the 34 shots he faced. Biggby Coffee AAA topped Omaha Mastery AAA, 6-2. Riley Fast added 3 points and Collin Barber scored two goals. Goaltender Gaige Dieugenio turned away 20 shots. The Philadelphia Little Flyers won 5-2 against the Maine Nordiques. Noah Poleshuk handed out two assists and Lorenzo Tita added a goal and an assist. Goaltender Henry Goosen stopped 23 shots. The Esmark Stars blanked CarShield AAA in a 3-0 contest. Jacob Stock and Timur Naletov both had a two point game while goalie Hleb Subach posted a 42 shot shutout win. The Philadelphia Hockey Club defeated the Tri State Spartans after scoring two goals in the first and second period for a 4-2 final. Kalib Capecci added two assists and goaltender Cole Werthman stopped 32 shots. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights turned the offense on in the second period to take a 3-1 win over Team Alaska. Brandon Cabral had a 2 point game and goaltender Jacob Brumm stopped 24 shots. The New Hampshire Avalanche broke a 2-2 tie late in the third to take a 3-2 win against the Colorado Springs Tigers. Jeremy Poirier added two assists and while netminder Wyatt Demers got the win in net. Only a third period goal was scored between the Indy Jr. Fuel and the Ontario Jr. Reign as the Fuel got the 1-0 win with Roman Gralak scoring. Goalie Sam Burcal got the shutout win after turning away 14 shots. The Northest Stars took a lead in the first and did not look back to take a 3-2 win over the Northeast Generals. Jeffery Hershberger accounted for two assists and goaltender Asher Wold stopped 30 shots. The Esmark Stars blanked the Maine Nordiques in a 5-0 final. Ivan Safonov netted two goals and goaltender Landon Buterbaugh posted a 14 shot shutout win. 

18U T1ER: The Philadelphia Little Flyers topped Omaha Mastery AAA 6-1. Hunter Engelman added 3 assists and Bogdan Radzivilka added a goal and an assist. Jake Schunke topped 31 of the 32 shots he faced. CarShield AAA won 3-1 against the Esmark Stars. Connor Broadhead had a two point game and Brady Govero stopped 29 shots. The Maine Nordiques took an overtime win against Biggby Coffee AAA, 6-5. Camden Charron netted the overtime goal and added two assists as goaltender Braxton Castango got the win between the pipes. The Philadelphia Hockey Club won 4-1 over Team Alaska. Connor Movalli added 3 points and goalie Andrew Dubin stopped 31 shots. The New Jersey Jr. Titans edged past the Tri State Spartans, 2-1. Jason Cameron and Jason Towindo both scored for the Titans. Goaltender Fedor Tabako stopped 27 shots in the win. The Northeast Generals beat the New Hampshire Avalanche, 2-1. Aiden Hellyer and Connor Jalbert both scored for the Generals. John Feeley stopped 27 shots in the net. The Northwest Stars silenced the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights, 7-0. Sean Johnson added 2 goals and 1 assist, and Bryce Johnson posted 5 points. Jakob Barcelona picked up the shutout win in net. The Indy Jr. Fuel defeated the Ontario Jr. Reign, 6-1. Chris Fotopoulos and Matthew Schmidt both added 3 points. Evan Peacock got the win between the pipes. Biggby Coffee got an overtime win against the New Jersey Jr. Titans, 3-2. Anthony Alvarado had a two point game with a goal and an assist, including the game winner just seven seconds into overtime. Aden Gariepy got the win in net stopping 37 shots. CarShield AAA took down Maine Nordiques in a 9-4 final after scoring three goals in each period. Jayar Luedke added a hat-trick, JP Piwowarczyk netted 2 goals and added an assist, Tyler Dale and Justin Kerr both had a 3 point game. Goaltender Branson Appelman took the win in net. The Philadelphia Little Flyers defeated the Esmark Stars by a final score of 4-1. Javin Fisher, Hunter Hayes, Charles Antirlli and Zach Crain all had a multiple point game. Micheal Manzi stopped 23 shots in net. Omaha Mastery AAA shutout the Madison Capitols in a 3-0 game. Goaltender Ryan Hacker played perfect in between the pipes as he backstopped 22 shots in the shutout win. 

14U SHOW: 14U action kicked off with a 8-0 Vegas Jr. Golden Knights victory over the Arizona Hockey Union. Vegas was led by Liam Butsavich who had a hat trick while Tommy Trent and William Lefebvre each tallied two goals. Then we saw the Highland Park Falcons take down the Weber Mustangs 10-0. Grady Strothman found the back of the net four times and Justin Papin notched a hat trick of his own. The Pekin Dragons knocked off the New Mexico Ice Wolves by a score of 5-1. Brendan Miller had two goals and two helpers while Dylan Anderson also chipped in two goals for the Dragons. In the final contest of the day, the New Jersey Titans held off a late charge from the McKinney North Stars 2-1. Michael Ditwell had a goal and an assist. Conor McGoldrick had a goal as well while Kyle Levitsky stopped 23 of 24 shots. 

16U SHOW: Seven different players found the back of the net as Orland Park defeated the Texas Tigers 7-2. Jameson Thulin, Brian Holmes and Cal Riemen all had multi point games. Gavin Arnold was nearly perfect for the St. Louis Sting as he turned aside 29 of 30 shots in a 3-1 win over Cherry Creek Hockey Academy. Connor Jason led the Chicago Hawks with a goal and an assist as the Chicago Hawks beat the Sylvania North Stars by a score of 4-1. Joseph Conrad made 24 stops to grab the win in goal. A goal from Sean Murphy was the difference as the Clearwater Ice Storm edged the Chicago Jets by a score of 3-2. Colin Jackson had a goal and an assist for the Ice Storm. Julian Calcagnino scored with just 36 seconds remaining in regulation as the Highland Park Falcons defeated the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 3-2. The Pekin Dragons were all over the Florida Jr. Everblades, winning 8-3 on Saturday. Logan Skocaj had four goals and an assist while Martin Hristov picked up a pair of goals as well. Daniel Novoselov registered a hat trick and an assist as the New Jersey Titans Elite beat the Arizona Hockey Union 6-3. Lucas Cerneka potted a pair of goal in the loss. The Clearwater Ice Storm picked up their second win of the day as they knocked off the Pekin Dragons 4-1. Preston Peterson, Kyle Nicol, Kane Eanes and Trent Coleman all picked up goals for Clearwater.Demetri Fallidas and Julian Calcagnino each picked up two goals and an assist as the Highland Park Falcons topped the Arizona Hockey Union by a score of 5-3. Logan Bruns stopped all 19 shots fired his way as his Orland Park Vikings shutout the Sylvania North Stars 6-0. Jameson Thulin and Zachary Beranek led the way offensively with a goal and an assist each. Brayden Mitchell finished with two goals and an assist as the St. Louis Sting dropped the Florida Jr. Everblades by a score of 4-1. Adian Linville made 34 saves in the win for the Sting. Jake Bamback’s goal proved to be the difference as the Texas Tigers held off the Chicago Jets by a score of 2-1. Tyler White made 29 saves in between the pipes to earn the win in goal. Decode Jones was a brick wall as he stopped 29 shots en route to helping his Chicago Hawks shutout the Anaheim Jr. Ducks. Bobby Barrett potted a pair of goals for the Hawks. Cherry Creek closed out Saturday with a win 3-1 win over the New Jersey Titans Elite. Charles Keating deposited two goals while Drake Sharkey made 18 saves in the blue paint.

18U SHOW: Daniel White logged the only goal of the shootout as the Philadelphia Little Flyers Elite edged the Orland Park Vikings 4-3. Christopher Albert had two goals for Philly. Ethan Barnard stopped all 29 shots fired in his direction as the Cherry Creek Hockey Academy shutout the New Jersey Titans Prep. Ben Helm and Kristian Hauswirth provided the offense. Kasper Zabawa led the way with a goal and an assist as the Chicago Jets doubled up the Texas Tigers by a score of 4-2. Hagan Quigley registered 28 saves. The Clearwater Ice Storm got a goal from Dollmont Gabriel in overtime to defeat the Tri Valley Bulls by a score of 2-1. Connor Sheridan was sensational as he made 40 saves in the win. Michael Ryndak potted a pair of goals and Cooper Darovic stopped all 16 shots he faced as the Chicago Hawks blanked the Lincoln Stars 3-0.  Nick Cowles was solid between the pipes for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks as they beat the St. Louis Sting 2-1. Riku Takishima and Ethan Kuehn found the back of the net for the Jr. Ducks. It was a 27 save shutout for Luck Caron as his St. Mary’s Rams shutout the Arizona Hockey Union 4-0. Michael Albert had a multi point game with a goal and an assist for St. Mary’s. Masen Kerr had two goals and an assist while Johnny Longabaugh had a goal and two helpers as the Highland Park Falcons dispatched the Jersey Whalers 6-4. Chris Bonini had two goals for the Orland Park Vikings as they knocked off the Lincoln Stars by the score of 5-4. Jacob Mish had two points with a goal and an assist. Brayden Bibby put home the game winner for the Tri Valley Bulls as they beat the St. Louis Sting 4-3 in overtime. Mathew Hague contributed two goals for the Bulls in the win. Brendan Kelly turned aside 20 of 21 shots as the Chicago Hawks grabbed the victory over the Texas Tigers by a score of 4-1. Brian Manns, Wyatt Ketzner, Ryan Good and Brady Culin all scored for the Hawks. Ben Reimer and Dollmont Gabriel each potted a pair of goals as the Clearwater Ice Storm beat the Arizona Hockey Union 7-0. Connor Sheridan was perfect as he denied all 30 attempts he faced. Joseph Putrim scored just 41 seconds into overtime as the Chicago Jets beat the Philadelphia Little Flyers 2-1. James Casey ended the game with 22 saves for the Jets. Ryan Knauss put home the game winner as the Northwest Chargers rallied to beat the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 2-1 in overtime. Martynas Jurciukonis made 24 saves in the victory. The Highland Park Falcons beat the Maine Nordiques Prep team by a final score of 4-3. Alex Leskaj, Jason Castaneda, Colin Ryan and Jamie Kaufman scored for the Falcons. Billy O’Grady and Chandin Jenings each had two goals and a helper as the Cherry Creek Hockey Academy took care of the Jersey Whalers 9-3. Dominic Suchkov had a goal and two assists in the win. Cameron Fanfa scored the only goal in the shootout as the New Jersey Titans Prep team edged the St. Mary’s Rams 3-2. Preston Jones and Ryan Nicholson scored in regulation for the Titans.
