SHOW teams start to separate on Day 2 in Blaine

The eighth event of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) 2022-23 season continued on Saturday, December 17th as teams from the NAPHL's SHOW League once again took to the ice. 

This event will mark the continuation of the 2022-23 regular season for the SHOW League and is taking place at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota from December 16-19.

The event is being played in the cooperation with the 2022 NA3HL Showcase, which will take place from December 18-20 at the Super Rink. All 34 NA3HL teams and coaches will be at the event and all 24 NAHL teams will also have a scouting presence.

Day 2 recaps

14U Division: The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights opened up Saturday with a dominant 9-0 victory over the Arizona Hockey Union. Aiden Fitzgerald, William Lefebvre, and Liam Butsavich all posted two goals in the victory. Joshua Lopez, Evan Vohwinkel, and Collin Davis were the other goalscorers. The Dallas Penguins took a large win against the Weber Mustangs. Ten different Penguins had a multiple point game and Joseph Lackey earned the win stopping 8 of the 9 shots he faced. The New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves edged past the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights, 4-3. Linden Groves and Levi Smith both added a goal and assist. Declan Bayne earned the win in net. The New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves topped the Weber Mustangs in a high scoring game with a 9-4 final. Jonathan Foster totalled 6 points with 4 goals and 2 assists. Goaltender Dante Devitre turned away 15 of the 19 shots he faced in the contest. The Dallas Penguins defeated the Arizona Hockey Union by a wide margin. Goaltender Max Kelin picked up the win in net. 

16U Division: The Tampa Bay Jr. Lightning held the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights scoreless in their 2-0 win Saturday morning. Braedyn Sullivan stopped all 18 shots he faced in the shutout. Logan Slezak and Zachary Bahret scored the goals for the Lightning. The Texas Tigers overcame Clearwater Ice Storm National in their matchup, winning 4-2. Tyler White backstopped the Tigers, keeping out 37 of 39 shots faced. Bryce Millington, Brenden Combs, Carter Constantino, and Jake Bamback all lit the lamp for the Tigers. The Florida Jr. Everblades put up 42 shots and 7 goals in their 7-2 victory over New Jersey Titans Elite. Vincent Faggioli-Delong shined for the Everblades, recording a hat trick in the win. Maksymillian Matys and Tristan Hatto scored a goal and dished an assist. The Tampa Crunch defeated Monument Hockey Academy 12-1. Mookie Killen recorded a hat trick. Max Ratliff, Dylan Mize, and Trey Rodriguez also had two goals in the contest. The St. Louis Sting put up five goals in the 2nd period, leading them to a 6-4 win over Arizona Hockey Union. Hunter Beach lit the lamp twice in the win. Colin Ammel, Ashton Whittley, and Trevor Bry also recorded two or more points. The Texas Warriors took down St. Viator 7-3. Six different skaters found twine, led by a two goal game from Maddox Hamilton. Eitan Hahn had three assists and Matthew Megwa tallied a goal and three points. THe Park city Miners took a 4-2 win against the New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves. William Conley added 3 points with a goal and 2 assists. Goaltender Oakley Frei took the win in net. The Weber Mustangs added three goals in the third period to take a 4-1 win against the SISU Thunderbirds. Cooper Ford added two goals in the third period while netminder Anderson Snider took the win in net. A four goal second period sent the Tampa Bay Jr. Lightning past the Texas Jr. Brahmas in a 4-2 final. Tyler Jones and Aiden Van Den Brande both added 2 points with 1 goal and 1 assist. Dillon Zimmeramn turned away 36 shots in his win in net. The Clearwater Ice Storm American squad defeated the Monument Hockey Academy by a final score of 4-2. Jake Ormanic added two goals and Elliot Hernandez added two assists. Nolan Sloan was great in net, turning away 31 of the 33 shots he faced. The Tampa Crunch silenced St. Viator in a 2-0 final score. Max Ratliff netted both goals for the Crunch while netminder Andrew DiSilvestro posted a 12 shot shutout win. In a high score affair, the New Jersey Titans edged the Arizona Hockey Union in overtime, 7-6. Andrew Lisnock scored the game winning goal for the Titans. The Texas Tigers blanked the Florida Jr. Everblades, 5-0. Brendan Combs and Brady Echels had a multiple point game. Goaltender Wyatt Wilhelm took the win between the pipes. Clearwater Ice Storm picked up a 5-2 win against the St. Louis Sting. Esean Chen added a goal and an assist and so did Connor Moriarty in the win. Goaltender Oliver Spaudling stopped 11 shots on his way to the win.

18U Division: The Clearwater Ice Storm shutout the Jersey Whalers in a 3-0 final score. Goaltender Connor Sheridan was perfect in net as he posted a 16 shot shutout win. Pacific Ridge Hockey Club shutout the Texas Jr. Brahmas 4-0. Spencer Lyon and Piet Kohnke-Sunenshine combined for 17 saves in the shutout. Luke Harris, Logan Mazzella, Harris Shular, and Drew Elmer were the goalscorers for Pacific Ridge. The Texas Tigers snapped a third period tie as they posted two goals on their way to a 3-1 victory over the St. Louis Sting. Cameron Constantino added two assists while goaltender Cole Fennema stopped 19 of 20 shots. St. Viator won in convincing fashion in their matchup against the New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves, shutting them out 5-0. Dominic Grimaldi had a relatively quiet morning in net for St. Viator, stopping all 10 shots he faced. Nicholas Munao had a pair of goals and three points. The Anaheim Jr. Ducks dominated Arizona Hockey Union 9-2. Cameron Irwin led all scorers with two goals and three points. Carson Ferry also had one goal and three points in the win. Denver East High School topped the Philadelphia Little Flyers in a 3-1 final score. Joseph Capra, Samuel Beardshear, and Aiden Yourkin all netted a goal in the win. Goaltender Jacob Smithburger picked up the win in net. The Lincoln Stars edged the Madison Capitols in overtime, 3-2. Mike Baran added two points and also scored the game-winning goal in overtime. Jacob Morgan stopped 19 of 21 shots in the win. St. Mary’s took a statement win over the Dallas Penguins, 6-1 after scoring three goals in the first period and three in the third. Michael scored two goals while Robert Birrd, Nicolas Gigoropoulos and Marshall Wittenberg all recorded multiple points. Luc Caron was near perfect between the pipes topping 28 shots in the win. The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Clearwater Ice Storm in a 4-1 final score. Brayden Barker added two goals and an assist while Arnet Clemen added a goal and two assists. Goaltender Alexei Kuhl turned away 12 shots in the win. Clearwater Ice Storm (National) took down the Tri State Spartans, 3-1, after scoring a goal in each period. Gabriel Dolmont scored two of those three goals and helped in the third goal by adding an assist. Mikhail Dumenko picked up the win in the pipes. The Pacific Ridge Hockey Club took a 3-1 win against the Monument Hockey Academy. Yungi Kim, Hayden Labovitch, and Ryan Mauro all scored. Goaltender Spencer Lyon took the win in net. The Weber Mustangs shutout the New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves in a 2-0 final. Will Lehman assisted in both goals while goaltender Trayson Croston posted the shutout in net. The Philadelphia Little Flyers defeated the Anaheim Jr. Ducks by a final score of 5-3. Dante Passio and Christopher Albert both recorded 3 points in the win. Netminder Nolan Musti backstopped 30 shots in the win. The Texas Tigers took down the Lincoln Stars in a 5-1 game. Cameron Constantino netted two goals and Noble Cook added 2 points. Goaltender Jackson Black was great stopping 18 of 19 shots. St. Mary’s defeated the Arizona Hockey Union by a wide margin, 8-3. Robert Bird added a hat-trick and an assist while Luc Caron stopped 22 shots in net. The Madison Capitols were victorious in overtime against the Golden State Elite, 4-3. Max Opperheim scored the game winner and goaltender Seamus Keohane took the win in net. The St. Louis Sting took an overtime win against the Jersey Whalers, 3-2. Trenton Cavender scored the game winner and goaltender Tyler Montgomerry was great in net stopping 14 shots.
