NAPHL alum Benson resigns with Oilers

Tyler Benson played in the NAPHL during the 2013-14 season.
The NHL’s Edmonton Oilers have signed forward and NAPHL alum Tyler Benson to a one-year, two-way contract extension with an average annual value (AAV) of $750,000.
The Edmonton, AB, native appeared in 29 games for the Oilers last season recording one goal and one assist. He scored his first NHL goal versus the Minnesota Wild on Feb. 20.
After being assigned to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors in March, the 24-year-old went on to play 18 games for the Condors, tallying four goals and eight assists.
Selected by the Oilers in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft (32nd overall), Benson has played 36 games with the Oilers and collected one goal and two assists.
Benson played for the Pursuit of Excellence 18U team in the NAPHL as a 15-year-old during the 2013-14 season. He was named to the All-NAPHL 18U 1st Team that season, scoring 40 points in 21 regular season games. He also added seven points in four playoff games.
