New Jersey forward Head makes NCAA D1 commitment
November 1, 2019
The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Kyler Head has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Hockey for the Robert Morris Colonials, who play in Atlantic Hockey. His commitment begins in the fall of 2020.
Head, 20, is in his fourth season playing in the NAHL with the Titans. During his first three seasons, Head had 47 points (22 goals and 25 assists) in 104 games. The 6’4/210 lbs. native of Malone, New York has 20 points (8 goals and 12 assists) in fifteen games in this season.
“I am proud to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey at Robert Morris University,” stated Head. “I wanted to say thank you to my family, my friends, my coaches, and everyone else along the way for their support.”
Head is another example of the NAPHL to NAHL ladder of development. Prior to his time playing in the NAHL with the Titans, Head spent a season playing in the NAPHL for the Northern Cyclones 18U team. In 21 games during the 2016-17 NAPHL season, Head recorded 28 points and was also selected to and played in the NAPHL 18U All-Star Game that season.
“Kyler is the longest tenured player on our roster,” stated Titans head coach Craig Doremus. “He joined us about three years ago during his 18U season in the NAPHL. He played a key role on our team that first year and has continued to grow and develop each year. This year he has really come into his own and has been a dominant force all year with and without the puck. Kyler has the ability to play this game at an extremely high level and I believe his best hockey is still in front of him. We couldn’t be more proud and happy for Kyler and the Head family.”
Robert Morris University is in Moon Township, PA. The Colonials are coached by Derek Schooley. They currently have a 3 – 4 record.
