Madison 18U defenseman Ruoho signs NAHL tender
February 26, 2019

The Madison Capitols of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that 18U defenseman Max Ruoho has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Corpus Christi IceRays of the NAHL’s South Division.
Ruoho, 17, has played with the Capitols organization in the NAPHL since the 2016-17 season. During the 2018-19 season, the 6’0/175 lbs. native Verona, Wisconsin, played in 16 NAPHL regular season games and recorded 11 assists. He also had one goal in four Dixon Cup Playoff games.
Ruoho was the NAPHL’s 18U Defensive Peak Performer in October when he tallied three points in four games.
Last season, Ruoho played in the NAPHL 16U All-Star Game and had 19 points in 17 NAPHL games with the 16U team. He also played in 11 games for the 18U team.
Overall in his three-year NAPHL career, Ruoho has played in 70 career regular season games and recorded 37 points.
He is the second member of the Madison’s 18U team to sign an NAHL tender this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
