Statement regarding the Humboldt Broncos
In the wake of the tragic events that occurred to the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) on April 6th, the NAHL, NA3HL, and NAPHL has released the following statement:
“We are saddened and shocked by the tragic events on April 6th involving the Humboldt Broncos hockey team of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Junior hockey is a widespread and strong family and we are all in this for the players, who are chasing their dream of playing hockey, so this hits all of us incredibly close to home. We mourn the passing of those who perished and please join us as we send our deepest condolences to their families in this incredibly difficult time. This is an unimaginable and irreplaceable loss for the hockey world and we ask that you please support the players, families, coaches, staff and team management in anyway you can," stated NAHL Commissioner and President Mark Frankenfeld.
During the final 10 NAHL regular season games of the 2017-18 season on Saturday, April 7th, all NAHL teams will hold a 14-second moment of silence in remembrance of those lives lost and those affected by this tragedy.
