The Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that 16U goaltender Hobie Hedquist has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Colorado College in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).
Hedquist, 15, just completed his first season of NAPHL competition for the Jr. Stampede. The 6’2/155 lbs. native of Heron Lake, Minnesota, posted a 7-3-1 record during the 2017-18 NAPHL season with a 2.15 goals against average and a .889 save percentage.
Hedquist also played in the Minnesota Bantam Elite League, where he posted a 5-2 record with a 2.77 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.
“As a program, we are very happy for Hobie regarding his commitment to attend school and play NCAA Division I hockey at Colorado College. Hobie's work ethic and athletic ability speak for itself; it is his performance in the classroom and his character both on and off the ice that we are most proud of. These are the intangibles that will grant Hobie the opportunities to compete at the highest levels,” said Sioux Falls 16U head coach Noëlle Needham.
