CarShield AAA 18U forward Westcott signs NAHL tender
January 4, 2018
The CarShield AAA organization of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) is pleased to announce that 18U forward Jared Westcott has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Lone Star Brahmas of the NAHL’s South Division.
Westcott, 18, is in his third season playing in the NAPHL with the CarShield/St. Louis Selects organization. The 6’1/165 lbs. native of Imperial, Missouri, has played in 17 NAPHL games so far this season, which includes regular season and exhibition games. He has recorded 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists), which currently ranks 3rd in team scoring.
Westcott played in the NAPHL last season for the then St. Louis Selects 18U team, recording 18 points in 22 games. During the 2015-16 season, he was a part of the Selects 16U team, recording 17 points in 25 games played.
Westcott is the 4th player from the CarShield 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender so far this season. Entering the final event in late January, CarShield is in 1st place in the 18U Division with a 12-1-1 record and 25 points.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
