Esmark 18U forward Polinski signs NAHL tender
June 5, 2015
The Esmark Stars, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are pleased to announce that 18U forward David Polinski has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Minot Minotauros. The Minotauros compete in the NAHL’s Central Division.
Polinski, 19, just completed his final season of Midget Hockey, playing the past two years in the NAPHL for the Esmark Stars. The native of Moundsville, West Virginia had his best career season in 2014-15, recording 18 points in 23 games played, including 8 goals and 10 assists. He also had one goal in four playoff games.
Polinski (6’0/190) had 11 points in 24 games played during the 2013-14 season with the 18U Stars. In his two-year NAPHL career, Polinski had 29 points in 47 career NAPHL regular season games.
Polinski also took part and was selected to the 2015 NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament held back in February in Ann Arbor, MI. Polinski played very well for Team East and recorded four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in three games.
“David is a great kid who returned post grad to give himself the best opportunity to make a NAHL squad. This is great news for him,” said Esmark 18U head coach Dave Kosick. “He is a hard working, blue-collar kid who truly brings his lunch pail with him when it is time to go to work and get the job done. His work ethic is simple and he works twice as hard as anyone else on the ice. David's signing is a great thing for the NAPHL. It proves that if you put in the work and stay focused on your goals, you can make dreams come true."
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 9, 2015.
