Arizona 18U defenseman Aune signs NAHL tender
January 14, 2015
The Arizona Bobcats, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce the 18U defenseman Martin Aune has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Minot Minotauros, who compete in the NAHL’s Central Division.
Aune, 17, is in his first season playing in the NAPHL and also for the Bobcats. The native of Trondheim, Norway, has had a very solid season thus far for Arizona with nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in 19 games played.
Aune (6’4/195) has also appeared in one game with the Minotauros this season, which came just a few weeks ago back on January 3rd as an affiliate player. In his NAHL debut, Aune assisted on a goal and was +2 in a 5-0 shutout win.
Aune was also selected to compete in the inaugural NAPHL 18U All-Star Game, which will take place on Sunday, January 18th at the Troy Sports Center during the final NAPHL regular season showcase of the 2014-15 season.
Aune’s best stretch of hockey this season in the NAPHL came during the third event of the season in Omaha, where the defenseman recorded five points in four games. He currently leads all Bobcats 18U defensemen in scoring and ranks tied for 3rd in scoring for the entire team.
Aune is the third Bobcats player and first from the 18U team to sign an NAHL tender this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2015.
