Madison forward Erickson gets call to NAHL
October 31, 2014
The Madison Capitols, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce the forward Phil Erickson has been called up to play for the Coulee Region Chill in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
Erickson, 17, is expected to make his NAHL debut with the Chill on Friday as the Chill travel to Central Division-leading Austin to face the Bruins.
Erickson (5’9/170), a native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is off to the strong start during the 2014-15 NAPHL season for the 18U Capitols, who are in 1st place in the 18U Division after two events with a 9-1-0 record.
Erickson is second on the team in scoring with 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) in 10 league games played to date. However, it was Erickson’s performance at the most recent NAPHL event in Romeoville that may have caught the Chill’s eye. Erickson totaled nine points in the five games played as the Capitols posted a perfect 5-0 record at the event.
In attendance at the event in Romeoville was Lincoln Nguyen, the Coulee Region Chill assistant coach.
Erickson played last season for the Team Wisconsin 16U team that won the USA Hockey Tier I 16U National Championship. He also played high school hockey in Wisconsin.
