NAHL Showcase less then two weeks away

September 4, 2014
The 12th annual NAHL Showcase Tournament is less than two weeks and preparations and anticipation for the event are at a fever pitch. All 24 NAHL teams will play four regular-season games at the Showcase, which is considered one of hockey's most prominent and popular events of the entire season. The event will be held from September 17-21, 2014 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.
For scouting purposes, the NAHL Showcase is the premier event of its kind and is a yearly gathering for every NCAA program and NHL team as they get their first look at some of the best and brightest hockey talent North America has to offer. The NAHL Showcase Tournament annually attracts over 9,000 people in overall attendance, including a record number of 342 NHL, NCAA and junior scouts, who attended the 2013 NAHL Showcase last season.

“We are coming off a season in which the NAHL set a new record for NCAA commitments in a season, as well as, a record number of scouts attending our events, which includes the NAHL Showcase,” said NAHL Commissioner Mark Frankenfeld. “We believe that events like the NAHL Showcase continue to set the standard, providing all the players with unmatched exposure to the hundreds of scouts who will be in attendance. Every year we keep believing we can outdo ourselves and make things even better than the year prior, and the 2014 NAHL Showcase will be no exception. We look forward to a great five days of hockey.”

In addition, there will four at-large teams at the 16U level included in competition. In total, 80 teams will be at the event. Not only will NAPHL face some tough competition amongst themselves at the Showcase, but several teams will compete in crossover games against teams from the High Performance Hockey League (HPHL) at the event, while others in the 16U Division will also face some at-large teams that are also competing in the first event of the season.
This marks the fourth straight Showcase in which the NAHL has partnered with the Upper Midwest High School Elite League (UMHSEL).  At the Showcase, the Elite League will feature eight total teams. It also marks the third straight Showcase that the NAHL has partnered with the High Performance Hockey League (HPHL).
