Omaha players selected in WHL and USHL drafts
The Omaha AAA Hockey Club , proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League, are pleased to announce that Ethen Frank (Omaha , Nebraska) has been selected by the Victoria Royals (84th overall) in the Western Hockey League Bantam Draft in Calgary, Alberta.
Frank had a tremendous season for the Omaha AAA 16U Team. He amassed 20 goals and 42 assists for 62 points in 79 games played overall. Frank was still Bantam AAA eligible this past season, but opted to play up for the Omaha AAA 16U Team and was a key contributor throughout the entire season for the club. Frank is the 5th Omaha 16U player to be drafted into Major Junior this season.
In other Omaha 16U news, two more players were drafted in Monday’s Phase I of the USHL Draft. Phase I of the USHL Draft is eight rounds of “Futures” age players only, which are 17U players for next year’s season. (1997 birth year players only for the 2013 Draft).
In the 2nd round, the Des Moines Buccaneers selected forward Tarek Baker. In 67 Games this year, the Verona, Wisconsin native amassed 34 goals and 61 assists for 95 points. He was also recently selected to attend the USNTDP final evaluation camp in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
In the 3rd round, the Youngstown Phantoms selected Omaha 16U leading scorer Ethan Price, a forward from Lincoln, Nebraska. He amassed 41 goals and 61 assists for 102 points in 74 games.
