SHOW League shines on first day in North Texas
The fifth event of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) 2022-23 season got underway on Friday, November 11th as all SHOW League teams took to the ice for the first time during the 2022-23 season. The event continues on Saturday, November 12th and will take place in Frisco, Texas from November 11-14.
This event will mark the 2022-23 season debut of the SHOW League. It is also the fourth event for the T1ER League as the West Division teams will be in attendance.
The event will be played at several arenas in the North Texas DFW area including the Children’s Health StarCenters in Farmers Branch, Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Richardson, and also the NYTEX Sports Centre.

Day 1 recaps
18U SHOW: The Portland Winterhawks edged Denver East High School in a 2-1 final. Portland netted two goals in the first period from Chase Robins and Nicolas Posthumus as Denver scored once in the second with Aiden Yourkin. Winterhawks goaltender Nicholas Ulyanov took the win stopping 23 shots.
The Golden State Elite squad took down the Tri Valley Bulls in a 6-2 score. Golden State forwards Max Oppenheim netted two goals and added an assist, Presley Lashinski added two goals and Paavo Makela had 3 assists. Golden State goalie Oblander Hunter stopped 28 of 30 shots.
The Pacific Ridge Hockey Club blanked the New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves in a 5-0 contest. Luke Harris added 3 points and Shular Harris added two assists. Goaltender Spencer Lyon stopped all 35 shots to earn the shutout.
St. Viator shutout the Texas Jr. Brahmas by a large margin in a 10-0 final score. Carson Hart, Sean Nutley, Patrick Heneghan and Jake Knieling all recorded 3 points. Goalie Dominic Grimaldi stopped 21 shots in the shutout.
The Clearwater Ice Storm topped the Tri State Spartans in a 5-3 score. Collin Smargon scored a hat-trick and CJ Moyer added two assists. Netminder Shane Passaro stopped 34 of 37 shots.
The Lincoln Stars defeated the McKinney North Stars in a 5-2 final. Caleb Burch handed out 3 assists, Mike Baran and Liam Joyce both scored two goals. Goalie Jacob Morgan stopped 23 shots.
The Dallas Penguins shut out the Weber Mustangs in a 4-0 score. Goaltender Maxx Levis stopped 34 shots in the win.
Clearwater Ice Storm topped the Arizona Hockey Union by a final score of 7-3. Clearwater added 5 goals in the second and then 2 in third as Renzo Mueller added 3 points with a goal and an assist. Goaltender Mikhail Dumenko stopped 15 of the 17 shots he faced in the win.
The Chicago Jets shutout the Anaheim Jr. Ducks in a 3-0 game. Nathan Cohen scored twice and goalie Hagan Quigley posted a 20 shot shutout in the win.
The Highland Park Falcons took a 7-2 win over St. Mary’s after being tied 2-2 going into the third. In the third period, the Falcons added 5 goals as Nick Fonk added 3 points with 2 goals and 1 assist. Goaltender Ben Bennick was near perfect stopping 25 shots only allowing 2 in.
The Chicago Hawks silenced the Cherry Creek Hockey Academy in a 5-0 final score. Brady Culin added two goals and Brian Manns added a goal and 2 assists. Goalie Brendan Kelly backstopped 19 shots in the shutout.
The New Mexico Ice Wolves took an overtime win over the Portland Jr. Winterhawks, 4-3. Edmond O’Connell netted two goals for the Ice Wolves and Kacper Drabczynski scored in the extra frame. Owen Huisman took the win in net stopping 34 shots.
The Orland Park Vikings defeated the Texas Tigers in a shootout, 4-3. Vikings forward Kyle Arias netted two goals in regulation. In the overtime period, Kyle Arias scored again and Andrew Kaunas sealed the win for the Vikings. Dane Goodwin stopped 41 shots in the contest.
The Northwest Chargers blanked the St. Louis Sting in a 4-0 win. George Kopec, Alexander Tinerella, and Dominick Nelson all scored a goal while Daniel Perillo added two points with a goal and assist. Alexander Conley posted a 24 shot shutout in the win.
St. Viator topped the McKinney North Stars in a 7-3 final. Angelo Massaro scored two goals while netminder Brock Harer stopped 39 of 42 shots in the win.
Pacific Ridge Hockey Club added 3 goals in the third period to take a 5-2 win over Monument Hockey Academy. Hayden Labovitch added two goals and goaltender Spencer Lyon stopped 33 shots in the win.
Denver East High School scored once in each period to end up taking a 3-1 win over the Pilot Mound Buffaloes. Nicholas Merrell, Zeke Giles and Samuel Beardshear all scored a goal in the win, while goaltender Jacob Smithburger took the win in net.
The Tri Valley Bulls ended the first period with a 5 goal lead to end up taking a 9-2 win over the Tri State Spartans. Maxwell Hove, Daniel Sanna, and Brayden Bibby all recorded multiple points in the game. Goaltender Kieren Parker earned the win in net.
The Lincoln Stars defeated Golden State Elite by a final score of 4-2. Will McDonnell and Liam Joyce both added a goal and an assist while goaltender Ryan Diaz picked up the win stopping 31 of 33 shots.
The Dallas Penguins edged the Clearwater Ice Storm in a 2-1 final after scoring a late goal in the third period. Brandon Wheeler added a goal and an assist and Jackson Cox scored as well. Ashton Poage took the win in net.
The Weber Mustangs took a 6-5 win over the Texas Jr. Brahmas after a high scoring third period. Boston Bradshaw added two goals and Chase Weave added two as well. Trayson Croston stopped 37 shots in the win between the pipes.
16U SHOW: In the first 16U game of the Frisco, TX Showcase, the Texas Warriors defeated the Tampa Crunch 4-2. Their offense was aided by a two-goal performance from forward Alexander Gorley while the other goalscorers were Evan Huante and Matthew Megwa.
Zane Price and Rachlan Hay each buried goals in the shootout to lift their Pilot Mound Hockey Academy squad over St. Viator 3-2. Beau Murray and Corey Nilsson were the regulation goalscorers for Pilot Mound while their netminder Piet Mierau kept out 22 saves in the win.
The Weber Mustangs blanked the Texas Jr. Brahmas 7-0, holding them to just 8 shots which all were stopped by their goaltender Anderson Snider. Hunter Jaques had a pair of goals for the Mustangs while Erich Jaques, Cooper Ford, Anders Waugama, and Brody Vest also had multiple points in the victory.
The SISU Thunderbirds took down the Park City Ice Miners 3-2 thanks to a go-ahead goal with one-second remaining in regulation from Christian Collins. Their netminder Nicholas Nanberg made 20 saves in the winning effort while SISU’s other scores came from Eli McCarthy and Colin McConnell.
Monument Hockey Academy outlasted the 15U Rose City Pats 5-3 with help from a hat trick performance by their forward Brody Greenwood. Micah Stanczyk and Brandon Atchley were the other Monument goalscorers while their goaltender Dillon Unruh made 17 stops in net.
The Clearwater Ice Storm (American) defeated the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights 6-4, having six different skaters find the back of the net over the course of the contest. Nolan Sloan made 17 saves for Clearwater while their goals were scored by Kaine Otterbacher, Chris Iannicelli, Jake Ormanic, Zev Schulman, and Emmet Menendez.
The New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves blanked the Tampa Bay Jr. Lightning 5-0. Ice Wolves goalie John Sanchez stopped all 13 shots he faced in the shutout while their forward Ian Mohr had a pair of goals in the win.
The St. Louis Sting took down the Pekin Dragons 5-3 in their first game of the weekend. Jack Nimmo, Hunter Beach, Mack Yanagimoto, Brayden Mitchell, and Owen Maire all provided the offense for the Sting. Their defense was backed by netminder Adian Linville who made 33 stops in between the pipes.
The Orland Park Vikings picked up a 3-1 victory over the Texas Tigers as their goalie Max Cook was nearly perfect in net, stopping all but one of 20 shots faced. Their goals came twice from forward Jameson Thulin and once from forward Cal Riemen.
The Chicago Hawks outperformed Cherry Creek Hockey Academy, beating them by a final score of 6-2. Hawks forward Bobby Barrett potted a pair of goals in the win while their other scores came from Kyle Alpe, Ben Lechner, Nathan Petrusevski, and Matas Norkus.
The 16U Rose City Pats controlled the pace of the entire game against the Highland Park Falcons, finishing the game with a 7-1 victory. Joe Lawrence had two goals in the win while their goaltender Eric Vargas kept out 25 of 26 shots in the contest.
The Texas Warriors defeated the Clearwater Ice Storm (National) 3-2. Warriors forward Mason Mashigian scored the only goal through two periods. Colin Jackson and Patrick Hyde buried for Clearwater in the 3rd while Alexander Gorley and Matthew Megwa tickled twine for the Warriors.
The Chicago Jets topped the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, shutting them out in a low-scoring 2-0 game. Benjamin Bracas had a quiet game between the pipes for Chicago, keeping out all 9 shots he faced. Alex Mattei and Ayden Gray were the goalscorers for the Jets.
St. Viator edged past the Texas Jr. Brahmas 3-2. Both teams scored a pair of goals in the 1st, Zach Waltuck and Michael Conrad scoring for St. Viator while Tyler Jones and Aiden Van Den Brande buried for the Brahmas. John Dahlin scored the eventual game winner 15:05 into the final frame to secure the win.
The Weber Mustangs blanked Arizona Hockey Union 5-0, backed by a 19 save shutout performance from Yair Perez. Logan Yates, Austin Adams, Cole Wiseman, and Nicholas Brophy were the goalscorers for the Mustangs.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy dominated both ends of the ice against Monument Hockey Academy, shutting them out 9-0. Quinn Burfoot stopped 12 shots for the shutout and forward Beau Murray put up three goals and four points in the victory.
The Tampa Crunch took down the New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves 7-2. Evan Kouzenetsov and JT Fuller both had two goals for the Crunch. Cameron Grande and Mookie Killen also had multiple points in the victory.
SISU Thunderbirds topped the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights, 4-1 after rallying in the second period scoring 3 goals. Collin McConnell added two goals and Eli McCarthy added two assists in the win.
The Park City Ice Miners defeated the Rose City Pats, 5-2. Ian Marsland scored twice while netminder Noah Grefe stopped 22 of the 24 shots he faced.
The Clearwater Ice Storm topped the Tampa Bay Jr. Lightning in a 4-2 final score. Robert Zettler, Noah Leikensohn, Micheal Alicea and Zev Schulman all scored. Goaltender Jakob Wolf stopped 25 of 27 shots.
14U SHOW: The New Jersey Jr. Titans blanked the Weber Mustangs by a wide margin in a 9-0 final. Jack Dunne added a hat trick and assist and Timmy Gorlenko added another hat trick. Goaltenders William Pardey stopped all 4 shots he faced and Kyle Levitsky stopped all 10 he saw in the win.
The Highland Park Falcons took a 5-2 win over the Dallas Penguins. Kristian Magnussen added 3 points with 2 goals and 1 assist. Goaltender Logan Marsh stopped 12 of 14 shots.
The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights took a shootout win, 2-1 over the Texas Tigers. Liam Butsavich was the only player to score in the shootout to take the win for Vegas. Goaltender Vincent Vitale earned the win in net.
