New Mexico defenseman Prouty makes NCAA DI commitment
The New Mexico Ice Wolves, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that Top Prospects defenseman and NAPHL grad Joe Prouty has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Lindenwood University.
Prouty, 20, just completed his third and final season playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Ice Wolves. The 6’0/180 lbs. native of Apple Valley, MN, had his career-best season during the 2021-22 campaign, as he recorded 23 points (3 goals, 20 assists) in 59 regular season games played.
Prouty also had four points in 13 playoff games in the Ice Wolves run to the Robertson Cup Semi-Finals.
He was also selected to and played in the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team.
Prouty began his NAHL career during New Mexico’s inaugural season in 2019-20. During that season, he had seven points in 26 games played. During the 2020-21 season, he recorded four points in 47 games played. Overall in three NAHL seasons, Prouty appeared in 132 career regular season games and had 34 points.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Prouty spent part of the 2019-20 season playing in the NAPHL for the Sioux Falls Power 18U team, where he recorded 18 points in just 14 games played.
