Springfield forward Dosan makes NCAA DI commitment
The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward and Captain Joey Dosan has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Army-West Point.
The 6’6/215 lbs. native of Bloomington, MN, is in his final year of junior hockey and his first season with the Jr. Blues. Dosan, 20, was named Captain prior to the start of the season for the Jr. Blues and has accumulated 9 goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 35 games.
Dosan earned Midwest Division Star of the Week for the week of October 4-10 after he registered 1 goal and 5 assists in a weekend sweep of Chippewa.
Prior to his time in Springfield, Dosan played youth hockey for the Northstar Christian Academy 18U AAA team. In his lone season for Northstar, Joey scored 27 goals and 47 assists for 74 points as he was Captain of his team that season as well.
He also played in the 2019 NAHL 18 Top Prospects Tournament for the NAPHL West team, recorded three points in four games at the event.
“We are very proud of Joey for all of his hard work and are excited for his future at Army-Westpoint,” said Head Coach Tyler Rennette. “They are getting an excellent hockey player and an even better young man.”
“I am humbled to announce my commitment to The United States Military Academy (West Point) to continue my education, serve my country, and play Division 1 hockey for the Army Black Knights,” said Dosan via Instagram.
Dosan joins Michael Valdez (Colorado College), Fisher Scott (Colorado College), Connor Smith (Union College), and Hagen Moe (Bowling Green) as the fifth Jr. Blues player to commit to an NCAA Division 1 program so far this season."
