Teams start to separate on Day 1 of Dixon Cup
The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) began its T1ER Dixon Cup Playoffs and Championship on Friday, February 18th in suburban Detroit, Michigan.
Day 1 saw action in the 18U, 16U, and 15U age groups. Day 2 is on Saturday, February 19th as the 14U and PREP Divisions join the event.
There will be Playoff Champions crowned in the 18U, 16U, 15U, and 14U Divisions in the T1ER League in addition to the PREP League.
Three different arenas will be used this weekend, which includes the Troy Sports Center, Suburban Ice Rochester, and Suburban Ice Macomb.

Day 1 recaps
18U Division: The New Hampshire Avalanche topped the Madison Capitols in a 6-4 final. Avalanche forward John D’Errico recorded 5 points scoring 2 goals and adding 3 assists. Team Alaska defeated the Northeast Generals in a 3-1 score. Alaska goaltender Olin Keliher stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced in the win. The Philadelphia Little Flyers shutout Biggby Coffee AAA in a 1-0 score. Flyers netminder Tyler Temoyan earned the shutout stopping all 17 shots in the contest. The Tri-State Spartans topped the Indy Jr. Fuel in a 4-2 game. Spartan forwards Adamn Schankula and Keaton Lipsett both recorded two points with a goal and an assist. The Northstar Knights defeated CarShield AAA in a 3-1 score. Three different Knights found the back of the net in the win. The Maine Nordiques took down the Arizona Bobcats in a 9-0 shutout win. Goaltender Dwan McDevitt stopped all 28 shots he faced while Forward Zach Sedlacek and Defenseman Jacob Como both scored twice. The Des Moines Buccaneers edged a win over the Esmark Stars, 5-4. Buccaneer forward Ryan Berglund added two goals and an assist in the win. Reapers Hockey Association defeated Shattuck St. Mary’s in a 6-3 final score. Six different Reapers found the back of the net in the win. In a high scoring affair, the West Coast Renegades defeated the East Coast Spartans, 9-5. Alex Bartakovics added 6 points (4G, 2A) and Filip Molnar netted a hat-trick. The Philadelphia Little Flyers topped the Indy Jr. Fuel by a final score of 7-1. Flyers forward Zach Crain found the back of the net twice. The East Coast Spartans defeated Team Alaska in a 6-2 final. Spartans forward Alex Doudkin scored a hat-trick in the victory. The Madison Capitols edged the Northeast Generals in a 1-0 final. Generals goaltender Braydon Garnhart turned away all 29 shots he faced in the victory. Biggby Coffee took a 2-1 win over the Tri-State Spartans. Biggby forwards Zachary Cline and Grant Ermellni both scored in the win. The New Hampshire Avalanche topped the Ontario Jr. Reign in a 3-2 score. Hunter Woolfrey, Zach Needham and Quinn Mose all scored for the Avalanche. The Arizona Bobcats defeated the Northstar Knights in a shootout, 6-5. Arizona held a 5-1 lead into the third where the Knights answered back 4 unanswered to even the game 5-5 forcing overtime, which then went into a shootout. Arizona Bobcats forward Jason Hammett scored to seal the win, 6-5. Reapers Hockey Association took down the Des Moines Buccaneers in a 4-1 final score. Reapers forward David Deputy netted two goals in the win. The Esmark Stars shutout Shattuck St. Mary’s in a 3-0 final. Justin Mettrick and Shane Miller both scored a goal and added an assist.
16U Division: CarShield AAA shutout Biggby Coffee AAA in a 7-0 final score. Goaltender Jack Solomon posted a 16 shot shutout. Reapers Hockey Association shutout the East Coast Spartans, 6-0. Goalie Pierson Haislet turned away 27 shots earning the shutout. The Maine Nordiques defeated the Arizona Bobcats in a 5-2 final score. Nordique forward Bookie Warshaw recorded 3 points with 2 goals and an assist. The Northstar Knights shutout the Madison Capitols in an 8-0 final. Knights netminder Beck Lidén earned the shutout while forwards Gavin Hruza and Sam Kartch netted two goals. The Esmark Stars shutout the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights in a 7-0 final score. Vegas goaltender Iannico Amaranto posted a 13 shot shutout and forward Joshua Coffee added 3 points (2G, 1A). The Des Moines Buccaneers blanked the New Hampshire Avalanche in a 4-0 game. Buccaneer goalie Gabe Otis earned the shutout, turning away all 32 shots he faced. The Philadelphia Little Flyers won in a shootout 2-1 over the Tri-State Spartans. In the shootout, Flyers forward Joseph Samango scored for the win. The Indy Jr. Fuel defeated the West coast Renegades 5-1. Fuel forward Matthew Schmidt added two goals and defenseman Dean Crouch handed out 3 assists.
15U Division: The Tri-State Spartans won in overtime fashion 3-2 over Biggby Coffee. In the extra frame, Charlie Nolette netted his second goal of the game to take the win for the Spartans. CarShield AAA topped the Philadelphia Little Flyers in a 5-1 final score. Logan Stawizynski and Aaron VanWie both added a goal and two assists. The Indy Jr. Fuel defeated the Ontario Jr. Reign in a 7-2 final. Forward Max Engel added 2 goals and an assist and Josh Sokol handed out 3 assists. Reapers Hockey Association shut the door on the Des Moines Buccaneers in a 4-0 final. Reapers forward Colum Chinlund scored a goal and added an assist. The Colorado Spring Tigers edged the New Jersey Jr. Titans in a 2-1 final. Tiger forwards Breck Buettner and Gavin Cannon both scored a goal.
