Meijer AAA 18U forward Kelly signs NAHL tender
The Meijer AAA hcokey organization of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) is pleased to announce that 18U forward Mason Kelly has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Aberdeen Wings of the NAHL’s Central Division.
Kelly, 18, is in his first season of playing for Meijer in the NAPHL. The 6’3/180 lbs. native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is having a very good year to date in 2020-21.
Kelly has posted 14 points in 13 games played this season in NAPHL action, which includes 10 goals and 4 assists. Kelly’s 10 goals is tied for 2nd among all NAPHL 18U players.
For the past two seasons, Kelly has played high school hockey in Michigan for Forest Hills Central, where he led the team in scoring during the 2019-20 season with 54 points, which included 35 goals.
He is the sixth player from the Meijer AAA 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender so far this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2021 NAHL Draft.
