Philadelphia 18U forward Hartley signs NAHL tender
November 26, 2019

The Philadelphia Little Flyers of the North American Prospects Hockey League are pleased to announce that 18U forward Byron Hartley has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Amarillo Bulls of the NAHL’s South Division.
Hartley, 17, is in his first season playing in the NAPHL. The 5’9/175 lbs. native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is currently leading all NAPHL 18U players in scoring with 30 points (17 goals, 13 assists) in just 12 games played this season.
Overall in 22 games played this season, he has recorded 54 points.
Hartley had a breakout event during the NAPHL’s fourth event, which was held in Danbury, Connecticut at the beginning of November. In four games, he recorded 15 points, which included 9 goals and 6 assists.
“Byron was at our main camp this summer and made quite an impression. He has an excellent Hockey IQ, and a nose for the net. More importantly, he is a great young man with top-notch character and a work ethic to match. We have no doubt that he will be an excellent addition to our organization and the Amarillo community,” said Bulls head coach Rocky Russo.
Hartley is the first player from the Little Flyers 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender so far this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 2, 2020.
