NAPHL alum Pearson signs with Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have signed Maine junior forward and NAPHL grad Chase Pearson to a two-year, entry-level contract.
The contract will begin with the 2019-20 season.
Pearson, originally selected by Detroit in the fifth round (140th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft, will sign an amateur tryout contract with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins and will join the Griffins later this week.
Pearson has spent the last three seasons with the Black Bears, serving as captain as a sophomore and junior and totaling 78 points (37 goals, 41 assists), a plus-18 rating and 132 penalty minutes in 107 games.
In 2018-19, Pearson notched a collegiate career-high 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists).
The 6’2/190 lbs. native of Atlanta, Georgia played the 2012-13 season in the NAPHL for the Atlanta Fire 16U team. During that season, he led his team in scoring with 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) in 22 games played.
He would late go onto play two full seasons in the USHL before attending Maine.
