Rocky Mountain 18U defenseman Millar signs NAHL tender
December 11, 2017
The Rocky Mountain RoughRiders of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that 18U defenseman Adam Millar has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL’s South Division.
Millar, 18, is currently tied for 3rd in team scoring with 13 points in 12 games played in NAPHL action so far this season. During the month of November, the 6’5/200 lbs. native of Westminster, Colorado, had 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists) in the five games, which also included three multi-point games, as he was named the Apex Learning Peak Performer #1 Star for 18U defensemen.
Millar, who was an NAPHL 18U All-Star last season, has picked up right where he left off last year. In 60 career NAPHL regular games, Millar has recorded 45 points. He has also added five points in 10 playoff games.
“Adam is a big defenseman that defends with an edge in his own end and contributes offensively. He fits the mold of the big men that have come before him in Shreveport. He is currently tied for scoring among defensemen in the NAPHL,” stated Director of Mudbugs Scouting, Mike Grattan.
Millar is the second player from the RoughRiders 18U team to sign an NAHL tender so far this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
