Sioux Falls 16U defenseman Belanco signs NAHL tender
November 14, 2017

The Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede of the NAPHL are pleased to announce the 16U defenseman Simon Belanco has signed a North American Hockey League tender agreement with the Minnesota Magicians of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Belanco, 16, is in his first saying of playing Midget hockey in the United States and in the NAPHL for Sioux Falls. The native of Brantford, Ontario, has played in 13 NAPHL games so far this season and recorded 8 points (4 goals, 4 assists).
Last year, Belanco (6’2/200) played for the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs and tallied 17 points in 36 games.
“Simon is a very skilled young defenseman,” said Magicians head coach Scott Meyer. “We were able to build a relationship with him through our main camp last summer and he is honing his skills in the NAPHL this year.”
Belanco is the first NAPHL 16U player and the first player from the Jr. Stampede to sign an NAHL tender this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
