Valley Forge 18U forward McCanney signs NAHL tender
November 8, 2017

The Valley Forge Minutemen of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that 18U forward Liam McCanney has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Northeast Generals of the NAHL’s East Division.
McCanney, 17, is in his second season with the Valley Forge Minutemen and is off to a great start to the 2017-18 season with 21 points in 20 games. In NAPHL action this season, the 5’8/165 lbs. native of Aldan, PA, has 10 points in 8 games played.
“I would like to thank the Valley Forge Minutemen for their support and help for the past two years. Coach Cannon’s program has helped me develop as a player and as a young man. They have helped me maintain the confidence needed to obtain a tender offer from the Northeast Generals. Being part of the Minutemen program and playing in the NAPHL has given me the exposure needed to reach this personal goal of getting to the next level,” stated McCanney.
“Liam is a hard-nosed player who never takes a shift off with a clear passion for the game. We look forward to watching him continue to grow as a player, and develop his skills and game with the Northeast Generals,” said Minutemen 18U head coach Sean Cannon.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
