Meijer 18U defenseman Kucharek signs NAHL tender
November 29, 2016
The Meijer AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 18U defenseman Jared Kucharek has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Lone Star Brahmas, who compete in the NAHL’s South Division.
Kucharek, 18, is an excellent skating and puck moving defensemen who brings a hard shot to the mix. The native of Parma, Michigan is 3rd overall on the team in points and currently tied for first in points in the NAPHL 18U Division with 5 goals and 7 assists for 12 points in 13 games.
He was named the NAPHL Peak Performer for 18U Defenseman in the month of October.
Last week, Kucharek (6’3/195) was named to the NAPHL 18U All-Star Game, which will take place on Sunday, December 4th. This is his first season playing in the NAPHL.
“Jared has come a long way in a short time with us, we are very excited to help him achieve his goals,” said Tom Berry, Director of Hockey for Meijer AAA Hockey Club. “The league has given us the opportunity to move players on that do not normally get seen.”
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2017.
