The Rocky Mountain RoughRiders, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 16U defenseman Jonathan Morrison has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey and attend school at the Air Force Academy.
Morrison an Eagle, Colorado native, 16, spent the last three years with the RoughRiders organization playing for the 14U AAA, 16U American and 16U AAA teams.
This past summer Morrison was selected to attend the USA Hockey National Camp in Amherst, NY. In the first five NAPHL games of the season, Morrison (5’10/160) has two assists.
“I’m very excited, the Air Force Academy is a big draw for so many reasons – the education, the benefits the service offers,” Morrison said.
“The club has great coaching, and the coaches always set you up for success,” he said. “I’ve gotten great exposure, and they’ve helped me develop in all aspects of my game. I’ve matured a lot playing for the RoughRiders.”
The Air Force Academy competes in the NCAA Division I Atlantic Hockey and is coached by Frank Serratore.
“Air Force is an unbelievable opportunity for him, not only in hockey but for his life,” said RoughRiders Director of Hockey Operations Derek Robinson. “Jono is a great representative of the RoughRIders Hockey Club and we wish him the best of luck in his academic and hockey career.”
The RoughRiders would like to congratulate Jonathan and his family on this wonderful accomplishment.
