Omaha 18U forward Bennis signs NAHL tender
March 15, 2016

The Omaha AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 18U forward Johnny Bennis has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Bennis, 17, just completed his first season of 18U hockey and second season overall with the Omaha AAA Hockey Club in the NAPHL.
In 25 NAPHL regular season games, the native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, had 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists), which ranked 7th for the Omaha 18U team who won the 2015-16 NAPHL regular season with a 23-3-0 record. Bennis (6’1/190) also had two points in five playoff games.
Also this season, Bennis was selected to and played in the 2015-16 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game for Team Easton.
“Johnny has been a good two-way hockey player for us all year. He is a versatile player who can play in all game situations and be effective,” said Omaha head coach David Wilkie.
Last season, Bennis was a part of the Omaha 16U team that won the NAPHL Championship. In 44 career NAPHL games, he has recorded 27 points.
Bennis is the 11th player from this year’s Omaha 18U team who has signed a 2015-16 NAHL tender.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 7, 2016.
