May 2, 2014

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) has announced that the Everett Junior Silvertips have been accepted as members of the NAPHL for the 2014-15 season. The organization will field a full-time team at the 16U level, as well as, a team in the Bantam Tournament Series.
“We are excited to add Everett as a new member to the NAPHL and believe that the exposure of our level and brand of hockey in the Pacific Northwest will be beneficial for everyone involved,” stated NAPHL Director Denny Scanlon. “The organization has made huge strides in a very short period of time and is backed by solid and committed ownership.”
While the current membership stands at 14 different organizations, there are still some applications being considered and reviewed for the 2014-15 season. A final number of teams, a list of accepted members and the 2014-15 NAPHL event schedule will be posted in the near future.
“In a very short period of time, the NAPHL has established itself as a premier league for Tier 1 hockey in North America, providing great exposure and opportunities for talented players and we are excited to be joining the league,” said Jerry Weir, General Manager for Everett Youth Hockey.
Weir stated that it is Everett’s intention of fielding both an 18U and a 16U team full-time in the NAPHL for the 2015-16 season, as well as, a team that will compete in the Bantam Tournament Series. “Our mission with our players is to develop their skills on and off the ice and provide them with opportunities to excel and advance in our game. This partnership with the NAPHL will be the perfect avenue for helping us accomplish this, grow our organization and best serve our players and their families.”
The Everett Youth Hockey is a program dedicated to player development for ages 4 to 18, to train and compete in the sport of ice hockey in a fun, fair environment. The programs foster youth growth at all levels through sportsmanship, community and teamwork. Formed in 2004, the program has grown to over 180 players and 12 teams. Teams train and compete at their home ice in the Comcast Community Ice Rink.
Back in July of 2013, the Everett Youth Hockey program announced a partnership with the Everett Silvertips of the major junior Western Hockey League (WHL). The WHL’s Silvertips are owned and operated by Consolidated Sports Holdings (CSH) International, which is the same company that owns and operates the NAHL’s Amarillo Bulls and the NA3HL’s North Iowa Bulls. The partnership between the Silvertips and Everett Youth Hockey program not only gave the team a new name, but brought additional resources to the program including access to the organization’s players and coaches. The Silvertips help provide the expertise and assets necessary to aid player development both at the recreational and competitive levels.
“The Everett Silvertips are one of the top Major Junior franchises in North America and play in a premier facility. Everett Youth Hockey has a strong relationship with the City of Everett, our partners at Global Spectrum and Comcast Arena are first-rate, and we are supported by a volunteer booster club that is second-to-none. All these elements will help us forward in the NAPHL as we plan on becoming a model youth hockey program with a focus on development for all ages and skill levels,” continued Weir.
