Omaha 18U defenseman Doyle signs NAHL tender
December 23, 2013
The Omaha AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are pleased to announce that 18U defenseman Tyler Doyle has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Topeka Roadrunners of the NAHL. Topeka are members of the NAHL’s South Division.
Doyle, who hails from Shawnee, Kansas is in his first season with the Omaha AAA organization. To date this season, the 18-year-old defenseman has amassed 14 goals and 26 assists for 40 points to go along with 74 PIM in 42 games overall.
In NAPHL action, Doyle (5’11/170) has 16 points in 13 games played, including five goals and 11 assists. His 16 points currently ranks 3rd among all NAPHL 18U defensemen in scoring this season. Doyle has had three NAPHL games this season in which he has scored three points.
Doyle becomes the fifth player this season from the Omaha AAA Hockey Club to sign an NAHL Tender, and the fourth player from the Omaha 18U team to sign an NAHL tender this season.
Doyle joins teammates Ryan Cagnoni (Corpus Christi), Tycho Falk (Coulee Region) and Mason Krueger (Corpus Christi) as players from the 18U team who have already signed tenders this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
