Atlanta defenseman McLean signs NAHL tender

May 17, 2013

The Atlanta Fire, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are proud to announce that 18U AAA defenseman Mitchell McLean has signed an NAHL Tender with the Coulee Region Chill.

The native of Atlanta, Georgia, played in all 22 NAPHL games for the Fire this season, collecting 8 points, (1G, 7A). McLean picked up an assist in his 4 games during the NAPHL Silver group finals in the NAPHL Championship series back in February.

McLean served as team captain for the Fire this season during his first season playing in the NAPHL. McLean is the first player this year from the Fire 18U team to sign a tender.

McLean was also a part of Team East at the NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament. During the tournament McLean had 1 goal in his 4 games played and helped lead Team East to the Top Prospects title.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2013.
