Pittsburgh Viper Stars announce tryout dates

The Pittsburgh Viper Stars AAA Tier I amateur hockey club have announced tryout dates and times
for the upcoming 2011-12 season.

Tryouts for the Pittsburgh Viper Stars Midget 18U AAA team (players born between Jan. 1, 1994 and Dec.
31, 1997), the Pittsburgh Viper Stars Midget 16U AAA team (players born between Jan. 1, 1996 and Dec. 31, 1997) and the Pittsburgh Viper Stars Midget 15U AAA team (players born between Jan. 1, and Dec. 31, 1997) are scheduled for: Friday, April 13, (7:00 – 11:00 p.m.); Saturday, April 14, (1:30 – 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.); and Sunday, April 15, (10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.).

All tryouts will be held at the Valley Sports Complex, 700 Craigdell Road, in New Kensington, PA. The cost for attending tryouts is $125 at registration.

The Pittsburgh Viper Stars AAA program has offered the tri-state region’s top amateur ice hockey players an opportunity to showcase their skills on a national and international level over the past 28 years. Drawing players primarily from western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio, the Pittsburgh Viper Stars showcase players for junior, collegiate and other opportunities.

Included among the highlights from the 2011-12 season:

Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U AAA
Final season record (52 – 19 – 5 – 1); finished first in the nation (18U AAA) with wins; captured the regular season title of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) and runner-up in the NAPHL postseason playoffs; won the prestigious Midget AAA Steel City Cup Tournament; signing of six players to Junior A tenders in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) for the 2012-2013 season: Robert Tritschler and Elliot Tisdale (Jamestown Ironmen), Heinz Koster (Aberdeen Wings); Jake Pilewicz, (Minot Minotaurs) Jake Hetz (Fairbanks Ice Dogs) and Austin Heakins (Port Huron Fighting Falcons).

Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U National AAA
Finished the season with a record of (35 – 26 – 3 – 1); finished sixth in the 18 team North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL); winner of the prestigious Midget AAA Steel City Cup Tournament.

Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U American AAA
Finished the season with a record of (41 – 20 – 6); finished fourth in the 11 team National Junior Prospects Hockey League (NJPHL); winner of the prestigious Massachusetts Labor Day Tier I Tournament.
