Day 1 of SHOW Championship features great action

The 2024 SHOW League Championship began on Friday, January 12th in Michigan with action in the 18U and 16U levels. The event takes place from January 12-15 in Troy and Rochester, Michigan. All games will take place at Buffalo Wild Wings Arena in Troy and Suburban Ice in Rochester. 

The 2024 SHOW League Championship takes place during the NA3HL Tender distribution exclusive to the SHOW League. A champion will be crowned in both Gold and Silver Divisions. 

Divisions, competition and playoff seeding were determined by a series of data points utilized by the NAPHL Power Rankings. 

Admission to the Championship is free to the public.

Day 1 recaps

18U: Denver East fell to Houston Aeros with a score of 5-3. Noah Schreiber, Elijah Huck Tomberg, and Calvin Stone scored for Denver East, while Hayden Hass, Nathan Horn, Logan Diskey, Harrison Swarts, and Jacob Brown contributed to Houston Aeros' goals. Monument Hockey Academy faced a 6-5 defeat against SISU Thunderbirds. Gunnar Vick, Tatum Bedan, Tucker Sarkisian, Harold Stauffer, and Tucker Sarkisian scored for Monument Hockey Academy, while Eli McCarthy, Reed Hinton, Brayden Balemian, Drew Lause, Chandler Smith, and Michael Brello scored for SISU Thunderbirds. Orland Park Vikings dominated with a 7-1 victory over Ontario Jr. Reign. Michal Czubiak, Vincenzo Cavazos, Nathan Novak, Adrian Abram, Joseph Izzo, and Zachary Beranek all tallied goals for Orland Park. Golden State Elite secured a 2-1 victory over St. Louis Sting. Cameron Candelaria and Roman Faz scored for Golden State Elite, while Evan Orr scored for St. Louis. The New Mexico Ice Wolves faced a 7-0 defeat against Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue. Mikko Anderson, Brayden Murphy, Mason Hosley, Gavin Lee, Anders Waugaman, Ethan Baird, and Mikko Anderson scored for Utah. Tri-Valley Hockey Association fell to Philadelphia Little Flyers by a final score of 4-3. Nolan Moore, Luke Brandon, and Michael Perone scored for Tri-Valley Hockey Association, while Kyle Roepcke, Richie Padulka, and Gabe Bedwell contributed to Philadelphia’s goals. The Rose City Pats faced a 5-2 defeat against Tahoe Hockey Academy. Taha Saiyed scored twice for Rose City, while Kyle D'Autueil, Lebron Sam, Garrett Baxter, Lebron Sam, and Wyatt Halasz all buried for Tahoe. The Chicago Jets fell to Chicago Hawks with a score of 3-2. Nicholas Scavone, Logan Stumpf scored for the Jets, while Andrew Hanlon, Joseph Teichman, and Owen Polivka scored for the Hawks. The Dallas Penguins faced a 5-0 defeat against the Chicago Flames. Alex Piekutowski, Jason Gongol, Charlie Domaracki, and Sam Harper all lit the lamp for Chicago. Pilot Mound Academy secured a 6-5 victory against the New Jersey Jr Titans in overtime. Kalix Monkman was the hero in overtime for Pilot Mound. The Utah Jr. Mustangs Red faced a 10-0 defeat against Pacific Ridge Hockey Club. Logan Mazzella, Neelan Patel, Gerald Smith, Torrey Man, Alexander Hodgson, Nolan Dufour, Connor Way, Alexander Hodgson, Yungi Kim, and Bennett Park scored for Pacific Ridge Hockey Club. The New Hampshire Monarchs fell to San Diego Jets HS with a score of 3-2. Brendan DeRoma and Garrett Aceto scored for New Hampshire Monarchs, while Matthew Matsuda, Cole Craft, and Devin Edoria scored for the Jets. The Pekin Dragons faced a 4-1 defeat against Texas Tigers 18U. Brendan Miller scored for Pekin Dragons, while Grant Norkiewicz, Brady Echels, Carter Constantino, and Marcus Levita scored for Texas.

16U: Park City Ice Miners secured a 7-1 victory over SISU Thunderbirds. Wyatt Strahan, Hunter Hutchison, Ryker Johnson, Mason Lees, Afton Olson scored for Park City Ice Miners, while Garrett Vipperman scored for SISU Thunderbirds. The Chicago Hawks won 5-3 against California Wave. Henry Lecauchois tallied a hat trick for the Hawks in the win. The Rose City Pats secured a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Crunch 08’s. Patrick Durka potted a pair of goals for the Pats. Ontario Jr. Reign won 4-1 against Utah Jr. Mustangs Red. Teegan Gardner, Logan Strasser, Travis Holmes scored for Ontario Jr. Reign, while Stryder Sorensen scored for Utah. The Orland Park Vikings dominated with a 6-1 victory over Utah Jr. Mustangs Blue. King McDougall scored for Utah, while Nugent Daniel, Bledsoe Joey, Kennedy Connor, Degen Max, Hodge Alexander, Gawel Mitchell all buried for the Vikings. The Tampa Bay Crunch 07’s secured a 3-1 victory over the Midwest Blackbirds. Luke Hayden scored for Midwest Blackbirds, while Carson Ring, Joseph Pocrnic, Jason Abdullah scored for Tampa. The Chicago Jets won 2-1 against Tahoe Hockey Academy. Dustin George scored for Tahoe Hockey Academy, while Jackson Schott, Macgregor King scored for the Jets. St. Louis Sting secured a 3-1 victory over Portland Winterhawks. Ian Urbanski scored for Portland Winterhawks, while Jack Nimmo, Abram Turner, Keanean Bahm scored for St. Louis Sting. North Carolina Golden Bears emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline against Santa Clara Blackhawks. Nathan Beckett scored for Santa Clara, while Matthew Busillo, Bradyn Evans, and Cameron McClain contributed to North Carolina's win. SISU Thunderbirds showcased an impressive display, securing a dominating 11-1 victory over Utah Jr. Mustangs Red. Evan Hastings, Garrett Vipperman, Tyler Paul, and Evan Guttman led the scoring, with Joshua Counter managing a solitary goal for Utah. Luparell Dominic, Bledsoe Joey, Ackerson AJ, Gawel Mitchell, Struzik Nathan, Struzik Nathan, and Augusta Drake scored for the Vikings, with Emmett Coombs managing one for Santa Clara.
