FALL League concludes first event in Blaine

The NAPHL FALL League concluded their first event of the 2023-24 season with 10 games on Monday at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.

This was the first NAPHL event of the 2023-24 season, which is the 15th season of the NAPHL. This will be the third season of the FALL League.

This NAPHL FALL League is designed to give U18 and U16 teams the ability to play in a league within a shortened window of time before the Minnesota and Wisconsin high school seasons begin.

Day 3 Recaps:

18U Division

Each team played one final game on Monday. The Corpus Christi IceRays capped off a perfect 4-0 event thanks to a 5-0 shutout over Fairbanks. Five different players scored and Nathan Mach had 13 saves in the shutout. The Janesville Jets capped off a 3-0-1 record at the first event with a 5-2 win over the Chippewa Steel. Spencer Vanden Heuvel scored twice in the Jets win. The Minnesota Wilderness also finished with a 3-0-1 record thanks to a 6-3 win on the final day over the St. Cloud Norsemen. Robert Thornton and Andrew Johnson Jr. each had two goals in the win. The Wisconsin Windigo moved their record to 2-2-0 thanks to a 6-2 win over the Odessa Jackalopes, who fell to 0-4. Logan Woods had two goals for the Windigo in the win. The Kenai River Brown Bears moved to 2-2-0 at the event thanks to a 4-1 win on the final day over the Austin Bruins. Brayden Pelcl scored twice and Caden Kubis and Ryder Miskovich combined for 32 saves in the win.

16U Division

The Kenai River Brown Bears capped off a perfect 4-0-0 weekend thanks to a 5-1 win over the Austin Bruins on Monday. Five different players scored and Carson Hauger and Cole Sharrow combined for 18 saves in the win. The Janesville Jets moved to 3-1 on the weekend with a 3-1 win over Chippewa. Drew Apicella, Bjorn Bahneman, and Owen Hoehn scored in the win and Ethan Burkard and Brady McFadden combined for the win in goal. Odessa also posted a 3-1-0 record thanks to a 4-1 win over Wisconsin on Monday. Odessa goalie Owen Debbert made 34 saves in the win. Other winners on Monday included the Minnesota Wilderness, who got two goals from Jax Edgerton in a 4-2 win over St. Cloud. Fairbanks moved to 2-2-0 on the weekend with a 5-3 win over Corpus Christi. Chase Jerdee made 24 saves in the win.

The next FALL League event will take place during the 2023 NAHL Showcase, which is set for September 13-17 at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.

Each FALL League team will play four more games from September 14-17. Games will be played at the Super Rink or Fogerty Arena in Blaine.
