CarShield, Esmark, Omaha claim titles in St. Louis

The NAPHL concluded its fifth event of the 2022-23 season, which was the 13, 12, and 11U T1ER Showcase in St. Peters, MO, this past weekend.

It was an exciting weekend for hockey for the 13, 12, and 11U age groups and first of two events for them during the season.

Day 3 recaps

13U: Omaha 3 vs. Esmark 1 – Omaha was crowned Champs of the 13U event in St. Louis thanks to a 3-1 win over Esmark. Brennan Sliva scored twice for Omaha and Landon Green also added a goal. Makisim Popienko had the lone goal for the Stars in the loss. Grady Curtis made 15 saves in the win, while Jacob Johnson made 32 saves in the loss.

Indy 3 vs. CarShield 1 – Braden Rubin scored all three goals for Indy in a 3-1 win over CarShield. Conor Stark had the lone goal for CarShield in the loss. Kade Ackely made 23 saves in the win, while Cameron Burle made 37 saves in the loss.

Jersey 7 vs. Tri State 3 – Trace Wozniak had a hat-trick and Matthew Morris had two goals and an assist for the Whalers in a 7-3 win. Caiden Kirk and Connor Kelly also scored for Jersey, while Tyler Sandness, Frank Machi, and Graham Urschel scored for Tri State.

12U: Esmark 5 vs. Indy 4 (SO) – Esmark won the 12U title in a close 5-4 shootout win over Indy. Logan Jenkins had two goals for Esmark and Asan Abdygulov and Nathan Ross scored for the Stars, while Indy got two goals from Carter Schoegler and others from William Clark and Nathan Gralak in the loss. Connor Eich scored the shootout winner.

Nashville 6 vs. CarShield 5 (OT) – Nolan Dixon scored 1:13 into overtime to give Nashville a 6-5 win in the 3rd place game. Goals in regulation from the Jr. Preds came from Brayden White, Drake DeFehr, Mikey Merker, Michael Peterson, and Malakai Hogan. CarShield got two goals from Dylan Sutter and others from Carson Neuf, Brayden Jang, and Ryan Simon.

Jersey 4 vs. Tri State 3 – Broddy Woziak had two goals to lead Jersey to a 4-3 win over Tri State. Gavin Swain and Mark Policelli had the other goals for the Whalers. Nadav Segal had a goal and two assists for the Spartans and Evan Osting and Barrett Markwell also scored for the Spartans.

11U: CarShield 5 vs. Indy 1 – Noah Berryman and Mason Planchard had two goals apiece to lead CarShield to the 11U title at home with a 5-1 win over Indy. Jack Fischer had the other goal for CarShield in the win, while Luke Meyer had the lone goal for Indy in the loss. Carter Althage made 18 saves in the win.

Esmark 7 vs. Tri State 2 – Nicholai Rosvanis had two goals and an assist to lead Esmark to a 7-2 win over Tri State. Emily Schollaert, Micah Schenk, Tristan Waite, Otto Keihlmeier also scored in the Stars win. Eli Ferrell and Rylan Clark had the goals for Tri State in the loss.
