NAPHL concludes first T1ER event in Blaine

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) concluded its play on Sunday, September 18th with the fourth and final day of the event that takes part during the NAHL Showcase.

Over 300 NCAA, NHL, and NAHL scouts checked in during the event, which also saw thousands of fans in attendance.

This was the first NAPHL T1ER event of the 2022-23 season, which is the 14th season of the NAPHL.

The weekend also marked the second event of the 2022-23 season for the NAPHL FALL League.

Day 4 Recaps

18U Division: The Lakers forward Jameston Essen netted a hat-trick in their 6-1 win over the Ontario Jr. Reign. The Colorado Springs Tigers edged the New Jersey Jr. Titans, 2-1. Tigers goaltender Damien Johnson was near perfect stopping 24 of 25 shots. The Janesville Jets had six different players score in their 6-1 win over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Esmark Stars goalie Peter Baldwin posted a 35 shot shutout in their 2-0 win over Omaha Mastery AAA. Team Alaska defeated the Northeast Generals, 3-1. Alaska forward Liam Lierman added two points and goalie Zach Budd stopped 26 shots. CarShield AAA edged the Philadelphia Hockey Club, 3-2. Nick Puricelli added two goals in the win. Voyageurs forward Gavin Jensen accounted for two goals in the teams 5-1 win over the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights. The Northwest Stars defeated the Walleye in a 6-2 contest. Forwards Benjamin Carlson and Martin Stovicek added two goals. The Green Giants topped the New Hampshire Avalanche 5-1. Forward Casey Ball netted two goals. St. Cloud came back in the third period scoring 3 goals to edge the Chippewa Steel 3-2. Philadelphia Little Flyers shutout Biggby Coffee AAA, 8-0. Goaltender Michael Manzi stopped all 24 shots he faced, and forward Domnic Dalessandro totalled 5 points. Tri-State Spartans Owen Hodgett was the hero scoring in overtime to get the Spatans a 4-3 win over the Grey Ducks. In a high scoring affair, the Moose took a 8-6 win over the Madison Capitols. Jack Benolkin netted a hat-trick in the win. Maine Nordiques goalie Ryan Piekarski shutout the Indy Jr. Fuel, 5-0. The Arizona Bobcats shutout the Maine Nordiques Red Squad, 3-0. Bobcats goalie Aiden Biswanger earned the win in net. The Lincoln Stars scored a second period goal that would be the deciding factor in a 1-0 win over the Minnesota Magicians. Jack Hanna netted the goal at 12:10 in the second period. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs edged the Wisconsin Windigo in a 4-3 final score. Defenseman Mason Amelse posted 3 points in the win. Shattuck St. Mary doubled down in a 6-3 win over the United Hockey Federation. Shattuck opened up the game with 4 goals in the first period, followed by a goal in the second and third. Alex Dell accounted for 4 points. Minnesota Wilderness took down the Austin Bruins 6-1. Hunter Cooke added 4 points with 1 goal and 3 assists. 

16U Division: Philadelphia Little Flyers scored 3 goals in the third period to take a 3-1 win over Biggby Coffee AAA. The Walleye topped the Northwest Stars, 5-1. Jacob Pfeifer and Henry Davis both scored two goals. The Lakers shutout the Ontario Jr. Reign, 4-0. Lakers Goaltender Hunter Bauer posted a 8 shot shutout. The New Jersey Jr. Titans silenced the Colorado Springs Tigers 3-0. Titans goalie Aidan Rowland stopped 22 shots. The Green Giants beat the New Hampshire Avalanche, 3-1. The United Hockey Federation added three goals in the third to take a 4-1 win over the Tri-State Spartans. Andrew Karkoc scored two goals. An overtime goal from Darik Olson sent Omaha Mastery AAA over the Esmark Stars in a 3-2 final. Team Alaska edged the Northeast Generals, 2-1. Reece Poisson scored the late goal in the third for the win. Philadelphia Hockey Club topped CarShield AAA, 4-2. Ryan Jaffee scored two goals in the win. The Blue Ox shutout the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights, 3-0. Goalie Ryan Gerlich stopped all 17 shots he saw. Minnesota Moose edged the Madison Capitols with a third period goal from Jimmy Dodig for a 2-1 final. The Maine Nordiques added a late goal in the third from Dawson Anderson to get a 2-1 win over the Arizona Bobcats. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs defeated the Wisconsin Windigo, 7-2. George Daravingas posted 4 points in the win. The Kenai River Brown Bears edged the Janesville Jets with Connor Hanley scoring the game-winning goal in the first period for a 2-1 win. The Minnesota Wilderness won 4-2 over the Austin Bruins. AJ Francisco netted two goals in the win. St. Cloud Norsemen Marty Timmons called the game as he scored in the overtime period for a 5-4 win over the Chippewa Steel. 

15U Division: The Grey Ducks beat the Ontario Jr. Reign 12-2 with seven different skaters tickling twine. Their offensive prowess was highlighted by a five point performance from John Eschweiler. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights took down the Voyageurs thanks to an impressive outing from goaltender Kameron Laskaska. The Golden Knights offense was fueled by forward Liam Heary who scored two goals. The Walleye took down the Loons despite being largely outshot throughout the contest. Walleye goalie Eli Charney kept out 37 of 39 shots faced; meanwhile on the other end of the ice, Jack Betzer buried a pair of goals for the Walleye. A three-goal 1st period from the Lakers was enough to lift them past the New Jersey Jr. Titans by a final score of 4-1. Anders Bjorklund, Cooper Rannow, and Cole Pitzl were the 1st period goal scorers and Bryce Wiitala added another in the 2nd to extend their lead. Valley Forge Minutemen edged the Green Giants, 3-2. Nick Smith added two goals in the win. Tri State Spartans took a 3-2 win over the Madison Capitols. The Esmark Stars took a 5-1 win over the Polars. Marshall Hewitt added three assists in the win. CarShield AAA defeated the Moose 4-2 with Carter Duy handing out three assists. The Blue Ox shutout the Arizona Bobcats, 12-0. Goaltender Chartles Stenehjem picked up the win. Biggby Coffee AAA took a shootout win over the Philadelphia Little Flyers, 4-3. The Colorado Springs Tigers topped the Philadelphia Hockey Club, 6-3.

14U Division: The Blue Ox defeated the Esmark Stars 6-1 thanks to two goal performances from Max Cullen and Zac Zimmerman. Evan Wanner also added a goal and two assists in the win. The Voyageurs took down the Tri State Spartans undefeated on the weekend. Jackson Strukel had a pair of goals and assists while Cory Backstrom also lit the lamp twice. The Grey Ducks dominated the Ontario Jr. Reign, shutting them out 11-0. Nine different Grey Ducks skaters found the back of the net, highlighted by multi-goal outputs from Calvin O’Reilly and Jackson Dahl. North Dakota remained undefeated Sunday, beating the Arizona Bobcats 10-2 and outshooting them 53 to 12. James Larson had two goals and four points and six other North Dakota skaters had multiple points in the win. Ryder Siedow scored four goals for the Loons in their 8-3 win over the Indy Jr. Fuel. Jimmy Egan also had a goal and three points in their convincing victory. The Walleye powered past the Northwest Stars 12-1 in their final game of the weekend. Wyatt Kuznik had a hat trick for the Walleye and Sammy Nelson, Cole Anderson, and Joe Erickson each had at least three points. Zac Zimmerman and Drew Simonich each buried goals in the shootout to lift the Blue Ox past CarShield 4-3. Netminder Jonathan Wood made 18 saves in regulation and stopped both CarShield shootout attempts in the win. In their second game of the day, the Voyageurs continued to impress by taking down Biggby Coffee 7-1. Forwards Kyler Black and Nathan Garski both had multiple goals for the Voyageurs and Kole Lendzyk and Alexander Nicklin were the other goalscorers.
