NAPHL action heats up on Day 3 in Blaine

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) continued its play on Saturday, September 17th  with Day 3 of the event that takes part during the NAHL Showcase.

This is the first NAPHL T1ER event of the 2022-23 season, which is the 14th season of the NAPHL.

The weekend also marks the second event of the 2022-23 season for the NAPHL FALL League.

The T1ER season begins in cooperation with the NAHL Showcase, the Greatest Show on Ice. The NAHL Showcase attracts over 9,000 people in overall attendance, including more than 300+ professional, college and junior scouts.  For scouting purposes, the NAHL Showcase is the premier event of its kind and is a yearly gathering for every NCAA program, NHL team, and NAHL team as they get their first look at some of the best and brightest hockey talent North America has to offer.

Day 3 recaps

18U Division: The Madison Capitols defeated the Ontario Jr. Reign in a 7-1 final. Madison forward Jace Fitzgerald recorded 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists, and netminder Travis Visvadra recorded the win. A shootout was the deciding factor between the Philadelphia Hockey Club and the Northwest Stars. The game saw its first goal in the second period when Martin Stovicek (8:36) scored to get the Stars on the board. In the third Jake Smith (8:44) evened the game 1-1. In the shootout, Philadelphia had Ryan Vaites and Denis Maliew score to seal the win, 2-1. The United Hockey Federation defeated the Minnesota Magicians in a 5-2 final score. Jack Sand added two goals along with Avery Anderson. Jannes Kamp stopped 23 shots in net. The Voyagers took an overtime win against the Indy Jr. Fuel, 3-2. Preston Lundbohm scored just seconds into the extra frame for the win. Peter Smith stopped 15 of the 17. Shattuck-St. Mary’s edged the Arizona Bobcats in a 3-2 win. Shattuck opened up the scoring in the third period adding 3 goals. The Lincoln Stars shutout the Maine Nordiques in a 5-0 final. Stars goaltender Jake Larsen stopped all 10 shots he faced in the win. The New Jersey Jr. took a win over the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights, 5-2. Aihep Sidarovich netted two goals and added an assist. Goalie Dawson Gregatis stopped 15 of 17 shots. The Philadelphia Little Flyers defeated Omaha Mastery AAA in a 5-3 game. Samy Phillips netted two goals and Goalie Jake Schunke stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced. The Colorado Springs Tigers picked up a 4-1 win against the New Hampshire Avalanche. Tristen Chavez handed out three helpers in the win and netminder Damien Johnson stopped 16 shots. The Tri-State Spartans won 5-1 over the Green Giants. Forward Nik Gossard recorded 3 points and goaltender Colin McCloud stopped 25 shots. Team Alaska took a 4-1 win over the Walleye after a strong second and third period with two goals in each. Dante Hunziker netted two goals in the game. The Maine Nordiques defeated the Moose 7-2. Four goals were scored in the third period by Maine after leading 3-0. Shane Kozlina netted four goals. The Minnesota Wilderness blanked the Wisconsin Windigo, 3-0. Wilderness goaltender Kole Kronstedt posted a 39 shot shutout. Kenai River Brown Bears took down the Chippewa Steel, 7-2. Lucas Busch accounted for four points with 2 goals and two assists. CarShield AAA defeated Biggby Coffee AAA, 6-2. Kavin Kennedy scored two goals, and Goaltender Aden Gariepy earned the win between the pipes. The Esmark Stars took a commanding win over the Grey Ducks, 10-0. Brody Simko scored an outstanding 7 goals and goaltender Nikita Volski stopped all 14 shots he faced. The Janesville Jets edged the Austin Bruins in a 4-3 final. Alex Pottratz added two goals and goaltender Aiden Tepper-Engh stopped 25 shots. The Northeast Generals shutout the Lakers, 3-0. Goalie John Feeley posted the shutout for the Generals. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs took an overtime win against the St. Cloud Norsemen, 3-2. 

16U Division: The Maine Nordiques blanked the Minnesota Magicians 11-0. Maine goaltender Brayden Rassmussen backstopped an 18 shot shutout and Sam Jacobs recorded 5 points with a hat-trick and two assists. Philadelphia Hockey Club defeated the Northwest Stars 3-1. Ryan Jaffe added two points and goalie Cole Werthman picked up the win between the pipes. MDHL topped the Arizona Bobcats in a 7-1 game. Graham Newton added three points with two goals and an assist. New Jersey Jr. Titans scored 3 goals in the first period to end up taking a 6-3 win over the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights. Philip Bermingham added a goal and assist while goaltender Aiden Rowland stopped 17 shots. Tri-State Spartans netminder Weston Wojtowicz posted a shutout over the Northeast Generals, 8-0. Jake Thornton scored a hat-trick in the win. CarShield AAA took an overtime win over the Green Giants, 3-2. Aaron VanWie scored just 46-seconds into the extra fram to seal the win for CarShield. Omaha Mastery AAA edged the Philadelphia Little Flyers in a 2-1 final. Brooks Ellingson netted the game-winning-goal in the third period. Spencer Hunnam was near perfect between the pipes stopping 40 of 41 shots. The Madison Capitols shutout the Ontario Jr. Reign in a 2-0 final score. Goaltender Jace Knorle stopped all 9 shots he faced. Biggby Coffee AAA kept the Lakers off the scoresheet in a 3-0 final. Goaltender Gaige Dieugenio posted a 17 shot shutout. The Janesville Jets took down the Austin Bruins by a wide score of 8-1. Sawyer Wilkens posted 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists. The St. Cloud Norsemen topped the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in a 7-5 game. Defenseman Carson Wendorff netted two goals and Marty Timmons also added two goals in the win. The Minnesota Wilderness won 5-1 over the Wisconsin Windigo. Ryan Jones netted two goals, Kyle Peterson and Ford Skytta both scored a goal and an assist. Goalie Liam Fish was near perfect, stopping 30 of 31 shots. The Indy Jr. Fuel added a 3-1 win over the Blue Ox. Joey Konesco and Luke McIntosh both scored a goal and an assist. Goalie Sam Burcal stopped 20 of the 21 shots he saw. The Kenai River Brown Bears took a 2-1 win over the Chippewa Steel with a late third period goal. Brock Alberts scored in the third to seal the win. 

15U Division: Philadelphia Hockey Club took a win in the shootout against the Ontario Jr. Reign, 4-3. Ryan Frey and Dale Curtis both scored in the shootout for the win. Valley Forge Minutemen edged the Esmark Stars in a 4-3 final score. Alex Small scored 2 goals. The Philadelphia Little Flyers took a 3-2 shootout win over the Green Giants. Philadelphia scored in the third to tie the game 2-2. In the shootout Jan Bach scored to win the game. CarShield AAA defeated the Vegas Jr. Knights in a 4-2 game. CarShield forward Thomas Pickett netted two goals in the contest. The Moose shutout the Tri State Spartans by an 11-0 final. Sawson Desjardins recorded the win between the pipes. The Janesville Jets took a 5-3 win against the Grey Ducks. David Moalusi scored two goals and Owen Hoehn recorded 3 points. The Blue Ox shutout the Northwest Stars 7-0. Rylan Leake totalled 3 points with 2 goals and an assist, while netminder Chalres Stenejem posted the shutout. The Arizona Bobcats picked up a shootout win over the Loons, 2-1. Both regulation goals came in the second period, then three Bobcats scored in the shootout. The New Jersey Jr. Titans shutout the Polars, 4-0. Netminder Andrew Skorupka earned the shutout win. The Madison Capitols topped the Lakers 6-3. Max Davis and Jake Olday both scored two goals. The Walleye shutout the Colorado Springs Tigers, 4-0. Goaltender Ryan Melsha posted an 18 shot shutout and Paul Anderson scored two goals.
