T1ER, FALL Leagues take to the ice in Blaine during Showcase

September 15, 2022

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) returns to the ice this weekend as a part of the NAHL Showcase with first event of the 2022-23 NAPHL T1ER League, which will take place from September 15-18 at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.

This is the first NAPHL T1ER event of the 2022-23 season, which is the 14th season of the NAPHL.

The weekend also marks the second event of the 2022-23 season for the NAPHL FALL League.

The T1ER season begins in cooperation with the NAHL Showcase, the Greatest Show on Ice. The NAHL Showcase attracts over 9,000 people in overall attendance, including more than 300+ professional, college and junior scouts.  For scouting purposes, the NAHL Showcase is the premier event of its kind and is a yearly gathering for every NCAA program, NHL team, and NAHL team as they get their first look at some of the best and brightest hockey talent North America has to offer.

The NAPHL's T1ER League is comprised of teams at the 18U, 16U, 15U, and 14U age groups that compete in a full NAPHL season at highest level for USA Hockey, which includes strategically located and scheduled showcases during the 2022-23 season. Additionally, two Showcases for 13U, 12U and 11U teams were created to help educate the players and parents about the T1ER landscape and to provide them a great hockey experience.

For the 2022-23 season, T1ER teams will compete in a combination of league-wide and regional conference exposure events. The league-wide showcases will continue to bring everyone under one roof to make it easier for the junior and college scouts to attend and evaluate. The regional conference exposure events will cut down on team travel and enhance regional rivalries, all to contain the growing cost of travel and bring more value and excitement to the participants.

Historically, the majority of NAPHL players recruited by NAHL teams come from the T1ER League, which includes 60+ NAPHL tenders per season. The successful advancement of T1ER players is due to the internal mechanisms the NAHL has created exclusively for the members of the NAPHL.

A record number of nine players with NAPHL ties were selected in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, which was held on July 7-8 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. It was yet another benchmark moment for the NAPHL, which enters its 14th season in 2022-23 with teams at the 18U, 16U, 15U, and 14U USA Hockey Tier I and Tier II youth levels. The success of teams on the National stage, as well as, the success of NAPHL players at the next levels of hockey, is further proof that the NAPHL is redefining exposure and has elevated itself to one of the premier training grounds for development and opportunity.

In addition to the 20 players who were drafted in the 2022 NAHL Draft back on June 15th, a record number of 66 players who played in the league during the 2021-22 season signed NAHL tenders for the upcoming 2022-23 season. In total, a total of 86 NAPHL players were either drafted or tendered by NAHL teams for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

The T1ER League is operated by the experienced and professional NAHL staff. The League has an updated and informational website dedicated to promoting the NAPHL, players, and teams. The T1ER League also features real-time scoring through NAHL technology partner LeagueStat, live broadcasting and play-by-play on NAHLTV of all games, players evaluated by NAHL Central Scouting to help promote the players to the NAHL, and all games are played under USA Hockey rules and standards at the Tier I level.
