NAPHL, T1EHL teams win on Day 1 of 18U Top Prospects

T1EHL East 3 vs. Minnesota Hockey 2 – In the first game of the 18U Top Prospects Tournament, the T1EHL East team edged out Minnesota Hockey, 3-2. T1EHL East never trailed in the game, scoring the first goal in the 1st period as Trevor Faucher found the back of the net. Early in the 2nd period, T1EHL East took a 2-0 lead as Nick Gallo found the back of the net. Minnesota fought back later in the 2nd period as Drake Ramirez scored to make it a 2-1 game. Minnesota would tie the game early in the 3rd period as Johnny Conlin scored just :18 seconds into the final frame. T1EHL East regained the lead midway through the period with the eventual game-winning goal from Michael Gallagher. T1EHL East goalie Carson Dorfman made 22 saves in the win, while Minnesota goalie Damian VanDanacker made 28 saves in the loss.

T1EHL West 6 vs. NA3HL 0 - T1EHL West scored early and often as goalies Isaac Mejia-Troop and Nikolas Charles combined for a 23-save shutout as the T1EHL West posted a 6-0 win over the NA3HL. James Vermeersch scored two goals in the contest, including the game’s first goal in the 1st period. Just over a minute later, Jared Weisert scored for T1EHL West to make it 2-0. Later in the period, Conrad Moline scored to make it 3-0 for T1EHL West after one period. In the T1EHL West widened their lead to 5-0 in the 2nd period as Will Falconer and Nicholas Salthouse both scored. Vermeersch would add his second goal of the game in in the 3rd period to make it a 6-0 final for T1EHL West. Jack Orchard got the start for the NA3HL and made 10 saves on 14 shots. Quentin Sigurdson made 13 saves on 15 shots in relief.

NAPHL 5 vs. NAHL Combine 0 – NAPHL goalie Brady Govero stopped all 19 shots that came his way as the NAPHL team shutout the NAHL Combine team, 5-0. The NAPHL got off to a fast start as less than two minutes in, they took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Cameron Reel. The lead swelled to 2-0 later in the 1st period as Jacob Ammar scored. In the 2nd period, the NAPHL added two more goals to make it a 4-0 game as Dylan Jensen and John D’Errico lit the lamp. In the 3rd period, Jensen struck for his second of the contest to make the final, 5-0. For the NAHL Combine team, Zane Spaniol stopped 14 of 18 shots and Branson Appelman stopped 15 of 16 shots.

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is pleased to announce that will host the 2022 18U Top Prospects Tournament and 2022 NAHL Prospects Challenge, bringing together some of the top hockey talent from multiple hockey organizations, which will both be held in cooperation with the 2022 NAHL Robertson Cup Championship.

The NAHL 18U Top Prospects Tournament consists of six different teams made up of 18U players, including those from the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), the Tier 1 Elite League (T1EHL), the NAHL Combines, and Minnesota High School Hockey.

The 18U Top Prospects Tournament will take place from May 20-22, at Fogerty Arena in Blaine, Minnesota. Each team will consist of a 20-man roster (12 forwards, 6 defensemen and 2 goalies). 120 total players will be spread amongst the six teams, who will play in four games each during the event, which will include three round-robin games, followed by consolation and championship games.

The NAHL Prospects Challenge is an extension of the NAPHL Fall League, in which 18U and 16U teams, will be put together and represented by NAHL teams. The NAHL Prospects Challenge was strategically designed to take place during the NAHL's Robertson Cup National Championship with all games in the area, which will allow more NAHL teams to participate and attract prospects from a greater geographical area.

The event is designed to maximize exposure for the players and bring together teams for likeminded and enhanced competition. Each NAHL member club will be eligible to enter one 18U team and one 16U team in the event. Teams will play a three-game round robin with top teams advancing and remaining teams playing a consolation game on Sunday. Games will take place at the Super Rink in Blaine and the TCO Sports Garden in Vadnais Heights from May 21-23.
