Biggby 18U forward Martin signs NAHL tender

March 16, 2022

The Biggby Hockey AAA organization of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that 18U forward Max Martin has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Minot Minotauros of the NAHL’s Central Division.

Martin, 18, just completed his second season of playing for the Biggby/Meijer organization in the NAPHL. The 5’10/160 lbs. native of Tawas City, MI, put up 11 points in 8 NAPHL regular season games in 2021-22. He also played well in the Dixon Cup Playoffs, recording five points in five games.

Earlier in the season this season, Martin played 28 junior games for the Pembroke Lumber Kings in the CCHL, posting four goals and 14 assists.

“Max has half of a year of junior experience in a good league in Canada and that experience will pay off through his transition to the NAHL. Max is a hard skill forward who is tough and responsible without the puck but also has the skill and hockey sense to create offensively. We are really excited to add him to our mix for next season,” said Minotauros Head Coach and General Manager Cody Campbell.

Martin who has 32 goals over 75 games the last two seasons was not shy about the fact that he likes to score. “I see myself as a player that plays hard with a lot of skill. I am a versatile player who works hard and loves to find the back of the net,” said Martin. “I chose Minot because of the reputation and facilities they have. The coaches have been great to me so far and the opportunity was one I couldn’t pass up.”

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2022 NAHL Draft.
