Odessa forward Goode makes NCAA DI commitment

Prior to playing in the NAHL this season, Odessa forward Emerson Goode played the 2020-21 season in the NAPHL.

The Odessa Jackalopes, a proud member of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Emerson Goode has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Ferris State University in the CCHA. Goode becomes the second Jackalopes player to commit this season.

Goode, 19, is in his first season in the NAHL. He has played in all 38 games for the Jacks so far during the 2021-22 season and leads the team in points with 27.

The 6’1”/175 lbs. native of Anaheim, CA native also leads the team in assists with 16. He is tied for third in goals at 11. He is 15th among rookies in the NAHL. In his NAHL debut, he scored two goals and helped on another. He left the NAHL Showcase with four goals and one assist in the span of four days.

Thank you to my family and friends for sticking by my side as I chase my dream and to my amazing billets for welcoming me into their home and family. I’d also like to thank all my coaches, but especially Coach Deur and the Odessa Jackalopes organization for the opportunity to earn a spot on the Jackalopes team. A huge thank you to all my Jacks teammates for their continued support in whatever success I’ve had thus far. I’m looking forward to finishing out this year with a strong push to the playoffs. Thank you Bulldogs coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity. I’m very excited to be a Bulldog,” said Goode.

Prior to reaching the NAHL, Goode was drafted #132 overall by Oklahoma City Jr. Blazers (NA3HL) in 2021.

Goode is another example of the NAPHL to NAHL Ladder of Development success as tast season he played 46 games for Meijer AAA Hockey 18U in the NAPHL. He finished third on the team in points (47) and second in goals (21). Goode also played 16 games for them in the NAPHL and registered 17 points (7g).

Ferris State University is in Big Rapids, MI. The Bulldogs are a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). Ferris State began its first season at the NCAA DI level in 1979. Throughout their history, they have had 12 players reach the National Hockey League. Some notable alumni are, Chris Kunitz, Jason Blake, and Dave Karpa. The Bulldogs have made the NCAA Tournament on four different occasions (2003, 2012, 2014, 2016). Their only Conference Championship came in 2016. Bob Daniels has been their coach for the last 29 years (462-538-107). Goode will now join former Odessa Jackalopes alumni, Connor Fedorek,and Nick Grimaldi.

“This is a great opportunity for Emerson. He is going to a program that has been successful at moving guys onto the next level. We are excited to see what Emerson will do in the future,” said Jackalopes head coach Scott Deur.
