13, 12, 11U T1ER teams set for Championship Sunday

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) continued its T1ER League Playoffs and Championship on Saturday, January 29th in Indianapolis, Indiana with the first ever event and Championship at the 11, 12, and 13U age groups.

Saturday was full of action and drama and the play was exciting as teams scrambled to be a part of the Semi-Finals or finishing towards the top of their pools.

There will be Playoff Champions crowned in the 11, 12, and 13U age groups on Sunday.

Day 2 recaps

11U Division: Four games were played in the T1ER 11U division Playoffs. The Esmark Stars took down Carolina Premier Hockey in a 11-3 game. Stars forwards Asan Abdygulov and Jordan Lucca both netted a hat-trick and added an assist. CarShield AAA earned a win over the Indy Jr. Fuel in a 7-3 score. CarShield forward Luke Grupe totalled 5 points in the game with 2 goals and 3 assists. The Esmark Stars and the Indy Jr. Fuel were tied 3-3 to end regulation forcing a shootout. In the shootout, Blake Brenckle scored the game-winning goal for a 4-3 Esmark win and berth in the Championship Game. Carolina Premier edged the Jersey Whalers in a 7-6 final. Carolinas forward Sean Sullivan scored a hat-trick and added two assists in the win.

12U Division: Seven games were underway in the T1ER 13U Playoffs. New Jersey Jr. Titans goaltender Deklan Martin earned the shutout against the Northwest Stars in a 9-0 final. Titans forward John Schmitt scored a hat-trick in the win. Arizona Bobcats goalie Lennon Mikan earned a 5-0 shutout against Carolina Premier Hockey stopping all of the 17 shots he faced. The Esmark Stars topped the Indy Jr. Fuel in a 4-2 final. In the game Stars forward Brody Boban added 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists. The Tri-State Spartans picked up a 5-3 win over CarShield AAA. Forward Braden Robertson netted two goals in the win for CarShield. The Jersey Whalers took down Biggby Coffee by a final score of 6-1. Whaler forward Jake Sturman accounted for 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists. In SemiFinal game one the Arizona Bobcats played the Tri-State Spartans where the winner would face tomorrow against either CarShield AAA or the New Jersey Titans. After trailing by two goals in the third, the Spartans battled back to tie the game 4-4 to force the shootout. In the extra fram, Joey Lepore scored to send the Bobcats to the Championship game. In semifinal game two CarShield AAA played the New Jersey Jr. Titans for a chance to go to the Championship game. The Titans took a 5 goal lead heading into the third period, where they added two more goals for a 9-3 final score. Titans forward Brendon Matysczak netted a hat-trick and added two points in the win. Tomorrow the Arizona Bobcats will take on New Jersey Jr. Titans for the T1ER 12U Division Championship. 

13U Division: Six games were slated for day two of the T1ER 13U Playoffs. The Indy Jr. Fuel shutout the Esmark Stars in a 4-0 final. Jr. Fuel netminder Hudson Kutchma posted  17 saves in the win. Biggby Coffee AAA topped the Tri-State Spartans in a 4-2 final score. Biggby forward Riley Hattan recorded 3 points with 2 goals and an assist. CarShield AAA defeated Carolina Premier Hockey in a 5-1 final. CarShield’s Keaton Johnson added two of the five goals scored in the win. Indy Jr. Fuel added a win with a 8-2 victory over Carolina Premier Hockey. Fuel forward Xander Rowly scored a hat-trick in the win. CarShield AAA netminder, Chase Vogelgesang played perfect between the pipes earning a shutout against the Esmark Stars in a 5-0 final. Forward Keaton Johnson scored a hat-trick in the CarShield win. Biggby Coffee AAA and the Arizona Bobcats stayed tied 3-3 to end regulation and forcing a shootout. In the extra frame, Bobcats Jim Xia and Reed Brown both scored to give Arizona a 4-3 win. Tomorrow the Indy Jr. Fuel will face off against CarShield AAA in the 13U Division Championship game.
