SHOW preps for Championship Monday, while T1ER action continues

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) continued its Showcase (SHOW) League Playoffs and Championship on Sunday, January 16th in suburban Detroit, Michigan. Quarterfinal games with some high drama, setting up the games on Monday, which will be the Semi-Finals in the morning and the Championship Games in the early afternoon.

The final T1ER regular season event also continued with the 18U and 16U Central Conference teams playing in Indianapolis, while the 15U and 14U teams started play in Detroit, MI..

The SHOW Playoffs are the third and final event of the 2021-22 season for the SHOW League. Previous regular season events have been held in Blaine, MN, and Frisco, TX.

There will be Playoff Champions crowned in the 18U, 16U, 16U Elite, and 14U Divisions.

Four different arenas will be used this weekend, which includes the Troy Sports Center, Suburban Ice Rochester, Suburban Ice Macomb, and Suburban Ice Royal Oak.

Day 3 Highlights

18U Division: West Dundee Leafs forward Jacob Laube scored a hat-trick and added an assist in the Leafs 11-1 win over the Ogden Mustangs. Philadelphia Little Flyers forwards Andre Amezquita and Evan Golato both netted a goal in the Flyers 2-1 win against the Cherry Creek Hockey Academy. Samuel Barnitz added three points in the Chicago Bruins 5-3 victory against Mission Arizona. Northstar Knights goaltender CJ Kier was perfect in between the pipes earning a shutout against the Indy Jr. Fuel, 6-0. St. Louis Sting forward Zach Harristhal added a goal and assist in the 5-3 win over the Naperville Sabres. Texas Tigers goalie Ashton Poage posted a shutout in a 10-0 win versus the Arizona Hockey Union. Overland Park Vikings netminder Jacob Hamilton was perfect in net earning the shutout in a 4-0 win against the Highland Park Falcons. Luke Raymundo handed out three assists in the PHA Icemen’s 6-2 win over Monument Hockey Academy. Daniel Armstrong recorded four points with 2 goals and 2 assists in the Chicago Jets 9-3 victory against the New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves. Forward Nick Zehelein of the Northwest Chargers added a goal and three assists in the Chargers 7-4 win against Montana Big Sky Stars. Justin Massara of the Affton Americans added two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win against the Gurnee Vipers. Tri-Valley Bulls goalie Josh Purpura stopped all 25 shots he faced in the Bulls 4-0 shutout over the Chicago Hawks. Tri-State Spartans forward Josh Balanoff added two goals in the Spartans 4-2 win against the Clearwater Ice Storm. The Reapers Hockey Association had three different players score in their 3-1 win against the Esmark Stars. Texas Jr. Brahmas netminder Alexander Croy posted a 34 shot shutout over the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, 4-0. Anthony Conti added four assists in an 8-2 win for the Chesterfield Falcons against the Columbus Thunderbirds. Colorado Tigers forward Lyndon Orr netted the lone goal in a 1-0 win against the Northwest Stars. Arizona Bobcats goaltender Zachary Follo earned a shutout stopping all 17 shots in a 2-0 final against the Madison Capitols. Des Moines Buccaneers AAA forward Davis Borozinski scored a goal and an assist in the Buccaneers 3-1 win versus the Indy Jr. Fuel. Reese Laubach of the Northstar Knights added 3 points in the Knights 6-3 defeat of Biggby Coffee AAA. West Dundee Leafs goalie Dominic Ceasrone shutout the Orland Park Vikings 8-0. Texas Tigers shutout the Affton Americans 7-0 with goaltender Bryson Frazee stopping all 30 shots in the contest. Tri-Valley Bulls Matvey Ivanov scored in the shootout to win 2-1 over the Chicago Jets. The Tri-State Spartans defeated the Reapers Hockey Association in a 3-1 final where Ryan Austin netted two goals in the win. Naperville Sabres forward Anthony Heidkamp assisted in both goals in the 2-1 win against the Chesterfield Falcons. 

16U Division: Colorado Springs Tigers topped the Madison Capitols in a 4-1 game where four different Tigers scored. Northwest Stars Jack Angelone netted the game-winning shootout goal for a 3-2 final over the Arizona Bobcats. The West Dundee Leafs took down the Clearwater Ice Storm in a 5-1 game where Leafs forward Jake Salvatore scored twice. Biggby Coffee defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers in a 5-2 final as Biggby forward Brandon Slasor netted two goals. Ethan Carstens and Sawyer Ruggiero both scored two goals in the Gulf Coast Flames win against the Geneva Cyclones. The Gurnee Vipers took down the Indy Jr. Fuel in a 4-1 final where four different Vipers scored. PHA Icemen goaltender Hayden Derk recorded a 23 shot shutout with a 3-0 win over the St. Louis Sting. Luke Thomilson scored in the shootout to get the St. Louis Sting a 3-2 win against the Highland Park Falcons. Mission Arizona goaltender Chance Taylor posted a 19 shot shutout over the Arizona Hockey Union in a 6-0 final. New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves forward Stanley Hubbard netted two goals in the Ice Wolves 5-4 victory against the Clearwater Ice Storm. The Gurnee Vipers took down Monument Hockey Academy in a 9-1 final where Jack Baker and Braiden Narlock recorded a goal and two assists. Noah Geggie scored a hat-trick in the 5-2 victory for the Columbus Thunderbirds over the Arizona Bobcats. Colin Ruffner added two tucks in a 4-1 win for the Esmark Stars against the Reapers Hockey Association. The Little Hawks took down the Chicago Bruins in a 15-0 final score where netminder Anderson Weimer earned the shutout. The Chicago Blues were successful in the shootout with Daniel Phillips scoring the game winner in a 7-6 final over the Montana Big Sky Stars. Chicago Bulldogs forward Louie Iandoli found the back of the net twice and added an assist in the Bulldogs 5-1 win against the Chicago Jets. Northstar Kings Brayden Berg netted a hat-trick in the 4-1 win against the Indy Jr. Fuel. The Naperville Sabres took a shootout win against the Orland Park Vikings, 4-3, with Nathan Ortinau scoring the game winner. Affton Americans forward Dylan Eifert added 3 points in a 5-3 win over the West Dundee Leafs. Goaltender Jace Knoerle posted a 23 shot shutout in a 4-0 win over the Park City Ice Miners. CarShield AAA topped the Tri-State Spartans in a 5-2 win as forward Ethan Donovan totalled 5 points (2G, 3A). Chicago Bruins defenseman Anthony DeGeorge scored a hat-trick in the Bruins 7-1 victory against the Texas Tigers. The Chicago Jets took down the Chicago Hawks 5-1 as William Leshnock scored two goals. In an overtime deciding game, Highland Park Falcons David Janowski netted the game winner in a 2-1 final over the Affton Americans. Northwest Chargers Ryan Knauss netted the game winning goal in the shootout against the Orland Park Vikings, 2-1. Louie Monson won the game in a shootout for the Madison Capitols in a 5-4 final against the Northwest Stars. Colorado Springs Tigers forward Marcus Ray netted two goals and added an assist in the Tigers 5-4 win against the Arizona Bobcats. 

15U Division: The Reapers opened the day with a 3-2 win over Biggby. Garrett Chong, Owen O’Rear, and George Holland all scored for the Reapers in the win. The Indy Jr. Fuel got 18 saves from Sam Burcal in a 3-0 shutout win over Des Moines. Eli Fox, Hayden Patterson, and Max Engel scored in the win. In the final game, CarShield picked up a 3-1 win over Tri-State. Teddy Richardson had a goal and an assist and William Harbaugh made 22 saves in the win.

14U Division: Cruz Martin netted the shootout game-winning goal for a 2-1 final against the Tri-State Spartans. Gurnee Vipers forward Maddux Kadera scored twice in a 5-1 win over the PHA Icemen. Reapers Hockey Association forward Mason Minsky totalled 3 points (2G, 1A) for a 6-2 win topping the Esmark Stars. Biggby Coffee AAA goaltender Samuel DiBlasi posted a shutout in a 10-0 final against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Indy Jr. Fuel had three different players notch a goal in the 3-2 final against the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights. Keegan Carnesi netted two goals in the Littleton Hawks 6-4 victory against the Chicago Blues. Cooper Brown scored the overtime goal to send the St. Louis Sting over the Arizona Hockey Union, 4-3. Overland Park Vikings defenseman Tyler LaLonde helped in a 3-1 win over the Portland Jr. Winterhawks by adding two assists. Columbus Vikings forwards Sean O’Keeffe and Palmer Cavicchia netted two goals in the Vikings 7-1 takedown of the Montana Big Sky Stars. Tanner Rosborough scored two goals in the West Dundee Leafs win against the Park City Miners, 5-1. Chicago Bruin Jake Sulek scored just twenty seconds into overtime for a 2-1 win against the Atlanta Madhatters. Esmark Stars forwards Jacob Miller and Vitaliy Ulianov both scored two goals in a 6-2 final over the Tri-State Spartans. Highland Park Falcons Asher VanderPloeg and Luke Chiu both scored a goal and handed out two assists in a 7-2 win over the St. Louis Eagles. Naperville Sabres topped the Chicago Jets in a 6-1 final where forward Logan Huegel added two goals. Chicago Hawks forward Henry Lecauchois scored twice and added two assists in the Hawks 8-1 win over the Arizona Bobcats. St. Louis Knights goalie Eddie Gatch posted a 15 shot shutout in a 7-0 win over the Gulf Coast Flames. Indy Jr. Fuel netminder Hunter Jackson posted a 30 shot shutout win over Biggby Coffee AAA. Vegas Jr. Knights forward Casey Berninger totalled 4 points in the 7-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers AAA.
